So am I the only one who is kind of disturbed by this overly photo altered makeup?! I'm not talking putting on extra makeup through apps but actually photoshopping pics!
It seriously hurts my heart to see beautiful everyday women doing this. We already have enough of the media shoving overly photoshopped celebs in our face and passing it off as a standard of perfection (that the celeb themselves can't even reach.) Now we have real women doing the same!
For example, I can always tell since the nose is always blurry. MakeupbyEvon is the most gorgeous makeup guru I ever seen and she's even does it. 🙈🙈 my heart goes out to the women of my generation (teens and up.)
What's your 2 cents on it?

I don't think its all that serious, she's a beautiful girl regardless.

Yeah I totally agree, some people feel the need to do it in every pictures. Some girls even photoshop themselves so much when you see them in person you're kinda shocked of what they really look like.

It's very off putting to me because they are gurus and they are teaching young and older girls how to do makeup and enhance their natural beauty with makeup and if they are photoshopping their faces it's just setting the wrong message to girls. And a lot of gurus talk about how you should feel more confidant in your own skin but photoshopping it isn't helping what's in the mirror. I'm sadden by this also because I know when I was younger I always wanted to have the skin of the girls in magazines but now I know it's photoshopped I know there is no one with that skin I don't know if I explained it well enough but it just irritates me now that gurus are doing it :/

It's also very discouraging because if they show a foundation they used and then photoshop their face the people and viewers are going to be mislead and want to get such perfect skin and get upset when their skin doesn't look like the gurus.

I totally agree with you Brianna. I remember being little and wishing my skin looked super silky and glowly like girls on Victoria secret ads and such but in reality their skin looks nothing like that.

Yes and that is what bugs me I'm like save it for the magazines and not for when you are trying to teach girls and such. Ugh. I want to be a guru one day and I will not be photoshopping because to me it's a flat out lie.

You should go for it (:

Amen Brianna! I want to do YouTube one day (not just makeup but hair and nails) and it's not a good message they're sending. It's so much smoke and mirrors these days, it's hard to see what's real

Upsets me! I mean I don't feel as bad when it's a selfie but when they edit client photos I just don't get a good feeling about it lol.

I just feel it's unnecessary. I want something that's real.

Honestly it pisses me off... like why show me a fake picture of a makeup look that noone can achieve (mostly talking about instagram makeup gurus). I just hate it. I'd rather see a pimple and a big nose than a blur or correction. it just sets super high goals and upsets girls who can't achieve them. I must admit although I'm pretty confident, seeing beautiful talented girls sometimes brings me down because I feel I will never be there and its stupid because I know they're imperfect and I'm staring at photoshop (not saying they arent pretty and talented... just not perfect)

Enhancing a pic doesn't bother me... the modifications like Symone said.

I agree Lara with some points. I rather see an imperfection than an overly edited version of the look. It's deception

^ agree with Jackie.Look all I have to say is if any one does it they should make sure not to mess with the pic so much that your eye creases disappear, I've seen so many pic's like that but yet they get all the likes from everyone and they are told how talented they're even if its extremely obvious what has been done to the pic. They do it because it catches your attention and like with bright things and colors you get mesmerize by that and don't actually look at the work. You created how this industry is now and how devalued it is in the art of makeup just by a click because you like it and ignore the actual art of it all.You follow or like it they will keep it up.So do you really know if the guru you like really has what it takes or are they merely a picture illusion for likes or popularity, could they handle being on the front lines of a makeup show down. ;-)
