Hullo all,

I have extremely sensitive, oily, acne prone skin that is intolerant to sunscreen, breaks me out so bad. The sunscreen brands I have tried with poor response are:
1. L'occitane Angelica Fluid
2. Coppertone sensitive faces sunscreen (says its anti breakout but no)
3. Neutrogena sunscreens (dry touch, oil free and no breakout ones:(
4. Bioderma Photo max sunscreen
5. Cetaphil oil free moisturiser with spf
6. The Body Shop moisturiser with spf
7. Bare Minerals Natural sunscreen (They stopped selling it because it has powdered Titanium Dioxide which is supposedly a Carcinogen)
8. Lotsa OTC derm prescribed sunscreens

So now my question is, do any of you suffer from sunscreen woes too? What sunscreens work for you? (Please mention only except the above mentioned ones, thank you all.)

I would try Aveno and I think the Yes To skincare line has a sunscreen (I would check in the Yes To Cucumbers section because that section specializes in sensitive skin)

Aveeno is what my husband uses and no issues. Skinceutricals, Mario Badsecu, Colorescience...those are one's that I use in rotation currently and I have somewhat sensitive skin (oily/combo)...certain preservatives makes my skin very angry.

Sorry I forgot to mention Aveeno, it gave me Cysts in places I don't break out too, and my skin didn't agree with the Yes to line either (Haven't tried their sunscreen but the anti acne products made my skin horrible) Thanks for your suggestions ladies. I think I have to keep looking. *sigh*

My skin runs dry, but is very sensitive. I use CeraVe AM daily.

And Julia, Jacqlyn recommends Neutrogena sunscreen, I saw her posts earlier, they make my face turn into a huge zit. :(

@ Shelley- I am considering getting the Colorscience powder sunscreen, could you please check if it has powdered Titanium Dioxide? Its a Cancer causing agent so I am wary.

Formula 10 daily moisturizer.

@ Rozberry- I did try the Cera Ve Range, I liked the Foaming wash, and I was using both the AM and PM lotions, I broke out, not terribly, but wasn't sure which lotion broke me out so I didn't enlist them. My mum who has dry, acne prone skin loves Cera Ve AM, but unfortunately I cannot use it.

I will have to look into the Formula 10 moisturiser, never heard of it, Thanks Ty!

I'm wondering if it is the actual sun exposure that is causing acne versus the sunscreens. Sun exposure is noted to make breakouts worse in a lot of stuff I've read. Not to mention you're probably sweating in the sun which clogs pores. I have acne prone skin and have never had issues with any sunscreens as long as they were oil free and non comodegenic. A lot of the brands you mention like Neutrogena and cetaphil should be the least irritating out there so it's odd that they are causing issues. Maybe try a BB cream with an SPF in a brand that doesn't make you break out. Also get a cute hat!

I already have acne prone skin, all sunscreens used to agree with my skin when I was on Accutane, but none since after I stopped. And I hardly sweat, plus my sun exposure is less than 10 minutes per day so I am pretty sure its not because of pore clogging due to sweat or that. I have to wear sunscreen because I use Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid night cream and other acne medications that promote skin darkening even without sun exposure if I don't wear sunscreen. But thanjs Maggie, I appreciate your help. (And yes, since I can't wear sunscreen cuz none agrees with my skin, I have been wearing sun hats, people called me the mad hatter at college lol)

Murad Essential C. SPF 35. I've been using it for more than a year now and I'm very pleased with it. It's never have any adverse affects on my skin. It's spendy, but it's worth it.

I use one by Vichy. It's pricey but causes me no problems. You only need a large pea size amount. Is it possible you're using too much?

Thank you for information about Murad, Jocelyn. I had no idea they manufactured sunscreen, have to have to look into. And @Princess D, I used Vichy Capital Soleil Face Fluid Matte too, It was ok for the first week and then I had zits all over, even on my neck where I don't break out:( I use Vichy Normaderm Night Cream with Salicylic and Glycolic acids and their Hydrating day lotion (without spf), and I love them, but sunscreen ugh, my skin just doesn't like.

@Ame....it contains titanium dioxide.

Colorescience does contain titanium dioxide but its not a bad mineral. In my opinion. In its natural, pure state its harmless. But where there is an issue...when man gets a hold of it and adds nastiness such as lead and iron to it. In cosmetics and skincare it is purified. And I know Colorescience is void of lead and iron because my husband tested it in his lab because some other mineral sunscreen I was using it contained some nastiness due to how my skin reacted to it. Its really hard to avoid as its also in our foods as well (processed food).

But if its a irritant for you I completely understand about wanting to avoid it.

I wanted to add that the Murad cost around $60, but it's lasted me like at least six months. You don't have to use a whole Lotta product to cover your whole face so keep in mind it will really last a long time--don't let the price really deter you a whole lot because it will last for quite a while.
