So I recently cut like 5/6 inches off my hair because it was really damaged from dying it and breaking like crazy. I'm really upset and I don't like my hair being shorter. it's pretty much shoulder length right now and I was wondering how to make it healthier and make it grow faster. I'm going to post a picture it along with this. any ideas? please help!?

Try looking it up on YouTube! I did and I found different techniques..some people said coconut oil, others said biotin vitamin pills, I'm not sure what really works because I haven't tried any yet. But definitely try YouTube! :)

The easiest way to make your hair grow faster is to keep it healthy. Don't mistake me, the rate at which your hair grows is determined by genetics, and nothing you can do will make your hair grow faster than it naturally would at its healthiest.

First, trim your split ends. If you don't, they will keep splitting up the shaft and ruin even more of your hair.

Second, invest in a sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo and conditioner (I like the L'oreal EverStrong), and a hair mask or deep conditioner (I like Macadamia Deep Repair Masque and the L'oreal Power Moisture Mask). In the shower, wash your hair first thing, shampoo only the roots and condition from your ears down. After that, apply your mask, focusing on the ends of your hair. Finger comb until you don't feel any knots, and then put your hair in a bun. Leave it that way for the rest of your shower, washing it out should be the last thing you do. I wash my hair around 3 times a week (with dry hair I can get away with it) and do the hair mask every time. If you need to wash your hair more than that, reduce your hair mask usage to 3 times :)

Third, in terms of heat protectors, I like the Tressemme and It's a 10 Leave in Plus Keratin. However, I advise you to cut out heat styling as much as possible.

That's my hair routine, my entire head is bleached and it is just as healthy as it was before I dyed it.

Or well, you can't because of genetics.

. Vitamins
. Using less heat on hair ( not as easy as it sounds)
. Right diet
Most importantly just make sure your hair is in good condition and it will grow when it's ready. X :)

I made the same mistake! I had hair down to my booty!! and I had cut it up to my shoulders due to the damage from processing it too much, I did this about 5 months ago, ever since I've used only a blow dryer on low heat, moroccan oil, mane n tail (thinking about switching) ,took biotin, deep conditions... my hair is now to where my bra is on my back... pretty much do what everyone is telling you and you should see some improvements. you just have to be patient hun, it won't happen overnight.

Hannah W. is right. you can't make your hair grow faster than it would at it's healthiest. DO NOT USE MANE N TAIL. It's terrible for your hair. it'll make it brittle & all the wax weighs your hair down. it doesn't make it grow. & it's not ph balanced for human hair. also talk to your doctor before taking pills like biotin. it is for people with biotin deficiency & can give you bad side effects if you don't need it.

If you don't always have access to a lot of vitamin filled produce or fresh meats and fish (like me: penniless college student haha) I would recommend taking a multivitamin. I take prenatals even though I'm not trying to get preggers. That way you can be sure to get as many vitamins as possible, plus the folic acid in prenatals can help with hair growth too! Obviously it's ideal to get as many vitamins from food because your body absorbs it better, but vitamins will help in a pinch. I have been taking MSM to help grow my hair. It works really well and I've also noticed a big difference in the length of my eye lashes as well. Both of these can be found at any drug store. I would also recommend doing hot oil scalp massages like Frances suggested. However if you're trying to cut back on the frequency of your hair washing/shampooing (which is a good idea if you're trying to grow out) a little trick I do is dry massages. If I'm just watching television or relaxing, I'll gently stimulate my scalp. Don't do it too roughly, because that can cause shedding, but I've found that it helps to do this a couple times a day in addition to proper oil scalp massages. Hope that helps!

I tried this deep conditioner called Mega Growth, and it helped me grow my hair, I really recommend it! (:

@Chanel well I don't know her lifestyle or what she eats on a daily basis. I'm just telling her the truth. & apparently some people do get enough biotin in their diet because they're the ones who had side effects from taking the pills. as for calcium pills, same thing. some people take the calcium supplements or just have too much in their diet & end up with kidney stones. it's just always best to talk to your doctor.
