I've never paid attention in the past but it seems like most products don't test on animals these days. I could be wrong but I don't know

I think animal testing is bad, but I've honestly never paid any attention to whether or not products I buy test on animals.

I usually look into it before buying something, but if I REALLY want/need it, I'll buy it.
however, I buy most of my products from Urban Decay, who don't do animal testing. I believe a lot of other brands like Too Faced & Tarte don't use animal testing either.

I don't look into it but I know loreal does, they stopped for a while but they started doing it again so I won't support their products

I live in Europe, it is illegal to sell make up which is tested on animals here so even if I would want to, I couldnt even buy make up tested on animals :)

Actually a lot of makeup brands still test on animals so they can sell to China. I have switched my skincare and makeup to cruelty free because I care more about not harming animals than my vanity (: Its a personal choice though!

It doesn't. I feel like by me NOT buying it won't even do anything. Do you really think one customer less for L'oreal will make them stop? Nope. If there are other options ill get it. But I don't believe in not buying will make them stop unless by a real big miracle everyone on the planet agrees to not buy.

My top beauty resolution for 2014 was to go cruelty free, and it was actually a lot easier than I thought. Thanks to the internet it's really easy to find a company's animal testing policies. The only brands I have had to cut out are Maybelline, L'Oreal, and Revlon. Another plus is that I'm buying a lot more local and natural products, so it's kinder on my skin and my wallet.

Nice eh! its only since 2013 that this rule is for all of Europe, but I'm from the netherlands and is has been forbidden to test on animals here for over 10 years I think :)

The thing is while the company you are researching may not test on animals... that does not mean the ingredients they use are not testing on animals so in reality is it cruelty free?

Ashley, I think - at least I hope - that most people are aware of that. It is something companies usually disclose, and if not there are a lot of other sites and blogs that have done the research for you.

Lauren, I respect your opinion, and I think it's interesting that you see it that way. I have never thought about it like that...I don't eat a lot of meat and was a vegetarian for 18 months, and in my opinion, if the meat is responsibly sourced, it's a totally different from dogs and bunnies being put tortured and kept under horrible conditions so I can have nice lashes. I just want to emphasize that this I'm not trying to attack your opinion in any way, I just like debating these things :)

I'm from the UK and even with the EU ban on animal tested cosmetics there are still a lot of loopholes in that law, I prefer buying from cruelty free brands and try to as much as I can, they usually have better quality makeup than brands who test on animals anyways :)
