I came across the site Guru Gossiper (and I'm embarrassed that I've actually spent as much time on it as I have, as I don't fully agree with it), but I'm reading a post about Melmphs and one of the most common comments is that she returns most of the products she buys for hauls just so she can make a video and get her money back from the store. Is this a common thing in the "guru" world? To trick people like that? I fully believe that not everything we see is real, and I will say that I believe a lot of them are in it for the money, but I also think a good deal of them are sweet, good people, too. Now, I don't know how much of what is on this website is true. It could be a bunch of bitter girls sitting around talking trash, or some of it could actually be real. What else have you heard that goes on "behind the scenes" that might surprise us?

In my experiences, all of the girls I watch on YouTube genuinely buy things they are going to use because they either film a look with the product or they will use the product later in other videos or mention it in a favorites video. Some of them do get sent products to review so their own money doesn't always go into all of the products they mention, but even so most of the people I watch seem to be honest if they don't like something as well. I've never personally heard of anyone buying things to show off and then returning them though. It seems like anyone who does that isn't as into makeup as they say they are and are trying too hard to be part of something they don't really love lol. I can see that products are expensive at times but it just seems like a silly thing to do. I've never heard of it though so maybe there are other reasons behind it I don't fully understand lol.

I agree- I've never heard of anyone returning products for the sole purpose of getting their money back. I know we have to take things from that website with a grain of salt so it could completely not be true at all. Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard of this before!
