To get it to stay longer put a Kleenex over your lips and then brush some powder over the Kleenex.and now its matte and lasts longer

What I've found really works for me is Too Faced Lip Insurance primer. If I still feel that I need more staying power, I blot my lipstick, apply a loose powder and then reapply another coat of lipstick. What's nice about the lip primer is that it acts as lip liner and gives your lipstick something to adhere to.

Firstly, I exfoliate my lips using a lip scrub and then apply lip balm. I would recommend using a lip brush to put on your lipstick, then grab a tissue and dap your lips so that the lipstick can really work itself on to your lips and finally put another coat on :)

Use lipliner to prevent any bleeding of the color, definitely exfoliate prior to the application, and use a primer for best results.

Put a similar color of lipstain gloss on top.

Exfoliate, put on some sort of colour stain (Benetint, MAC Paint Pot, Lollitint, Stila Lip Stain and NYC Lipstain are some good ones) then blot. This will stain a layer of colour as a base, now ready for lipliner. Line the outside of your lips, and fill it in. Blot. Apply the lipstick, blot again. Add another layer of lipstick. Touch of gloss and you're good to go :)

I apply lipliner & then a apply Covergirl Outlast Lipstain. I let that dry for 30, then applied a moisterizing lipstick (today was Revlon Lip Butter). I had 3 meals today & drank tea all day long with only 1 gloss touch up after lunch for some moisture & shine. I applied my lips at 6am today and it is now 9:50 pm and I still have about 20% of lip color on my lips. Lipstains get a bad reputation for drying out your lips but if you layer it with a moisterizing lipstick, it won't dry out your lips. And only apply the lipstain once a day to avoid drying out your lips.

What you really do is avoid applying more products because that's just more moisture. What you really need to do is apply your lipstick. Blot it with a tissue. Get a powder brush and apply translucent powder or corn starch on the lips then apply lipstick again and blot without powder this time. Applying powder at first washes out the color so adding a second coat of lipstick gives it back the vibrancy and since their was powder on the lips it sort of absorbs the oil on the second layer and makes it more matte and more resistant to transferring
