Cakey foundation help

I have good foundation and good make up brushes but when I apply foundation it doesn't seem to stick to some parts of my face (nose and chin) even with primer and in other parts it looks really dry and cakes!

Any ideas why or tips on applying?

What brush do you use to apply? And do you exfoliate before putting your primer on?

I have real techniques and sigma brushes- I only exfoliate about once a week as it tends to irritate my skin x

Try using a different brush. I use revlon colorstay. I hated it when I used it with my real techniques expert face brush (not dissing the brush but it just didn't work with this foundation). It caked on my cheeks and didn't cover well on my nose. Then I used a flat foundation brush and it seamed like a completely different foundation it went on so beautifully so just experiment with ways of putting it on.

I was going to say the same thing, the brand of the brush is nice to know I guess, but it doesn't tell me WHAT brush you're using. I use the Tarte Bamboo Airbrush Foundation And I never have a problem with my foundation. No lines, no patches, no discoloration, and everything is even.

And you may need to try a different exfoliater product if the one you're using is irritating your skin.

Well it could be two things.
1. Need to exfoliate and moisturize more
2. It could be the primer.
I exfoliate with sea salt and it gets the job done and makes my face very smooth then moisturize with extra virgin organic cold pressed coconut oil.
As for the caking it could be due to too much silicone. I know a lot of brands are adding silicone to their ingredients because it makes the product apply evenly and makes the skin look and feel smoother but then they also have primers that have tons of silicone in it. Then your natural oils mix with the product on your face and then it's just a mess. Try skipping the primer. Use a buffing brush and buff the product in clockwise and counterclockwise to really get it on the skin but be gentle. If it looks dry then try a few mists of water
