I definitely see what you mean nina,and I agree 100%. I also agree that its okay for 12yr old girl to wear a skirt with leggies,but definitely not a mini skirt.

I agree with Nala. It's sad that our society is like this but it's true. There are too many creepers out there nowadays and yes clothes are a way of expressing yourself but if it's going to potentially put you in danger and make you a target then it's not okay.

We are each entitled to our own opinions. The header says "please comment" and I am with my own honest opinions as a mother of a little girl and a woman. Even as a teen/young adult I didn't like seeing young girls that age wearing stuff that could show stuff, even on accident. I'm not "sexualizing" them. Nor do I think "it's the girl's fault for dressing how they do gets them raped/whathaveyou", it's the sexual predators fault. I'm just saying I don't think it's appropriate for a child that age to be showing that much skin. Mini skirts in my opinion again, is more appropriate for 18 (but I'm really thinking 20, but whatever).. If Women decide to go wear something like that cool. But not for girls that age. Period.

The fact that people blame girls for dressing pretty & not the guys for being disgusting pigs is stupid as hell. If they want to have their ass cheeks hanging out let them lol, it's none of your business wether they can or should or not. Just saying.. Guys are guys, & guys are pigs that have no respect towards girls, wether they're wearing provocative clothes or not.

I personally wouldn't let me girls wear a mini skirt and I'm sure as hell their father wouldn't even let them own one!

Mini skirts are "sexy" clothes they are meant to show off legs, and hips and butt. They are meant for guys to notice. The girls who wear them are looking for attention (usually some level of sexual attention) and want the guys to look and show interest.

Whether my girls wants that type of attention or not, I know as an adult that that's the type of attention they will be getting, and obviously will try and make compromises with her as to length style and maybe leggings.

As parents we are obligated to protect our children, that also means we need to keep them clothed appropriately. I would NEVER let my child go out in a mini skirt barely covering her bum, and if she snuck out in one then that really reflects badly on my parenting especially of she's only 12-13-14... Come on moms...

Karen there is a difference in dressing pretty and dressing like a skank... Do prostitutes on the street look pretty? No they look skanky, well that's how I see 12 year olds in makeup and mini skirts and crop tops and all that. (Sorry but that how I see it)

Um... Karen you are very wrong! If the little 12 yr old was never wearing the mini skirt than the "pig" would have never tried anything. And I am giving no 'ok' to those sickos but, the girls bring it in themselves by dressing like hookers! Just sayin'

I was trying to stay "nice" and not say skanky like ray stated. But in all honesty that's what they look like. Exactly how ray stated in the 2nd part of her comment. That's exactly how I feel when I see that. My husband would never allow that!!

I'm glad people have the same ideas I do. Next thing you know, people are going to be ok with 12 year olds wearing push up bras... Regardless if anyone likes it or not, there is no reason a child should be walking around exposed. I tolerate young girls in bikinis but outside of that you shouldn't be half exposed. Kids should be kids, not adults.

Exactly nala!! Kids are getting not provocative at younger ages, they are drinking and doing drugs and having sex sooo much younger then before... Do we really need to enable then buy purchasig them slutty clothes as well? I'm ashamed of most parents now, call me traditional but in going to be there with my kids every step of the way, and we will have rules and consequences.

Girls dressing like this at such a young age is going to mess up their self esteem and self confidence. They will loose their personality and rely on clothing to get them attention.

I've been there. In grade 10 I was very modest and covered everything grade 11 things changed and I worse mini skirts and low cut tanks and push up bras heels and started with makeup and just dolled up every day before school. Got massive amounts of attention and continued on like this basically just going to guy to guy who's give me any sort of attention and al the girls hated me. Anyway now I don't dress like that and I'm slowly getting my self worth back, bit for such a long time I struggled It was hard to walk around with no one looking at me. I had to re evaluate what pretty was... And now girls are doing this younger and younger and it makes me sad!!

Kids are not kids these days anymore, times have drastically changed apparently. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until high school. My dad would have killed me if I went to school or anywhere else in public with a "mini skirt" on. Plus I don't like attention, especially not that kind. Kids these days look up to people like Miley Cyrus, who dresses horribly for a young girls role model. I understand she's "of age" and can do what she pleases, but Young girls look up to her.. 7 year olds on up. The actresses/singers, etc.are doing things that are crazy. Again yes most are totally old enough. But if you know little kids look up to you, at least try to be appropriate for them. What parent wants their little girl looking up to someone riding a wrecking ball naked. It's the parenting and "role models" these days that allow this and it's flat out disgusting to me.

Same for me Raylene. I dressed like a boy until I was like 14 then since I was bigger (and had big boobs lol) I started walking around with these low cut tops and tights clothes so people would think I'm pretty. But it's only been in the past 6 months I've realized, I'm pretty without exposing myself. So now I dress like I want which is just comfortable,

Whether they want to admit it or not, when girls dress like that they want attention. And attention from the opposite sex.

It's because they don't understand. They see the girls who get all the attention dress like that but I just wanna tell them, that's not the kind of attention you want. If a guy only talks to you because you're dressed a certain way, he's not a good guy anyway because he wants only one thing. The good guys will like you for you with your messy hair, acne, and sweats.
