Honestly what does a tattoo feel like on your shoulder blade? I have my nose, Monroe and industrial piercings and unsure of my pain tolerance I heard it feels like a cat scratch? My first tattoo will be two butterfly's flying away with my husband and sons name as the "wind" and I'm nervous but so badly want it because I have so much more tattoos in mind like on my ribs and sides and collarbone etc.so please can you give me the best advice for how it feels what to expect etc?

Hannah that's really pretty and I know I can do it it's just the nervous thinking about it before I get it thing like I had an epidural when I gave birth to my son and waited til I was 5 cm dilated to actually get it and the contractions were very very strong I waited to the point the doctor said if I didn't get it then I was going natural so I don't know my pain tolerance but needles scare me? Lol.

Needles scare me too. I'm terrified of them. That's why it's nice to have it on your back, you can't see the needle :)

That's so true and the shop me and my husband are loyal too uses a rotery gun so it's less pain and less of a buzz sound.

I don't think it's that bad honestly, it's just a constant scratching feeling, but that area gets numb after a while

See? Then no worries :) you'll be fine and if it's something you really want you'll deal with your fear.

Haha I can't imagine being scared of needles 😳 I'm diabetic and inject myself AT LEAST 2 times a day, my life would be impossible if I was scared of needles hahaha

The shoulder will hurt momentarily over some areas depending on your fat, muscle, and bone but it will be a good place to start. Since you'll be sitting backwards in a chair or laying down it will be an easy position to tolerate the pain and you'll be able to squeeze something with the opposite arm if you need to. It's basically like a rubber band snapping on your skin very fast and little harder than usual. I'm scared of needles when it comes to injections like what Brittany does, go through me like a piercing or into my skin like a tattoo that's fine but not into my deep tissue or blood or I'll faint lol

Thank you so much Annabelle I think I will have to try snapping myself with some rubber bands just to see how much I can take but I am so excited to get it :)

All my tattoos hurt, I have the right side of my neck, my whole back and shoulders, my right foot and ankle, and my upper arms, all 4 to 8 hour long sessions at a time. I think they are all painful but They all have very special meanings to me and I notice that when they mean something the pain really doesn't matter at all cuz the end result is so worth it, yours definetly sounds like it means something, so just remember that when you go into the shop and you will be fine =)

And by the way I have a low pain tolerance.

Ok thank you and yeah my tattoo means a lot it's my husbands and sons name and butterfly's are just so lovely and I thought it would be perfect because it's one big butterfly with a smaller butterfly and they are flying away

It sounds gorgeous!! If a spot hurts more than others, I always just think of what the tattoo means to me and that actually helps me a lot, hope I helped a little!

Personally I think piercings hurt more. I have a lot of piercings and they all seemed to be more of sting type pain. tattoos (I only have one so I might not be the best judge) are more like an annoying pain, not super painful just annoying kinda like how Hannah said you just want it to move to a different place. I don't think itll be to bad because most people who get one still want more (myself included) definitely worth the pain!

I can't speak to getting a tattoo on your back, but I have one on my shoulder/arm (the area you have a farmer's tan where arm and shoulder meet). It didn't really hurt. The outlining felt like a scratch, and went numb really quickly. Shading was the worst, and even then it just felt like a sunburn getting slapped over and over. I have a relatively low pain tolerance (but a relatively high "suck it up and grow a pair" tolerance lol) so I think you'll be able to handle it.

Thank you and I think I'm that way too with low tolerance but high suck it up tolerance lol.
