It's true but also can be bad for your skin, your foundation should stay on foundations usually have some primer already in it.

Try a setting spray. Urban Decay's All Nighter is a good one but if you have oily skin try their De Slick setting spray :)

Wow, you people are just trying to kill yourself off with the hairspray in the face. If you have a foundation that is absorbing into your skin too much or "falling off" or fading you might need to look into your skincare routine a little more or your diet. If absorbtion is the problem it is likely that your skin is not hydrated enough. Make sure you are drinking enough water and their are safe products out there that can boost moisture to the skin. If it is a falling off or fading issue it might be that you have a foundation that is not compatable with your skin. Remember it wasn't that long ago that primers came out so people have been wearing primer free makeup forever before that.

Sometimes even a light moisturizer will help.

Use a damp foundation sponge, like the BeautyBlender or dupe. I use Revlon ColorStay for my foundation and it is amazing

I really love using Urban Decay's All Nighter spray. Expensive but I think it works. Essentially though, you just need a great foundation.

Using a nice simple lotion such as Cetaphil or Lubriderm as a replacement to face primer is really great! Let it set on your face for at the most 5 minutes and you should find your make up lasts all day! To set it, I also use Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist! It works wanders!

Set foundation with pouder! Don't use hairspray: yes, it works but it's not healthy for your skin! ;)

I have oily skin so I use Urban Decay DeSlick before applying my foundation and again to set my makeup when I'm finished applying it. My make up stays put and oil breakthrough and shine is a thing of the past.

Oh my!!!Hairspray on the face?! You do know that its a flammable product.....
Nov 13, 2012
Alma M.
With makeup Everything is flammable on the face, but hairspray is bad on your skin if you do it your next question will be how to get rid of acne :-)

It's probably down to you using a moisturizer that isn't compatible with your foundation. You need to use like with like. If your moisturizer is silicone-based, for example, so should your foundation.
Apart from that, use a proper makeup setting spray. Urban Decay, Skindinavia, MUFE, e.l.f., and (I think) Kat Von D all make them.

haaaaa, wow....now that's one thing i have NEVER done, hairspray...damn...i can't say that I will ever do that...primers work for me. If i'm working a long day or its a special occasion i'll set it w/ UD but in general my foundation doesn't move

When you use powder, press it into your skin rather than just brushing it on. It might take some practice to avoid your face looking cakey - but it's WELL worth it. It really helps set your foundation/

I just use a light moisturizer before hand. Make sure you get a foundation that's made for your skin type and then make sure you set it with some powder. With long-wearing foundations like Revlon's Colorstay or Estee Lauder's Double Wear, I don't use primer at all and sometimes I don't even need to set them, just carry around a few blotting sheets.
