I have a daughter who just turned 14 and I only allow her to wear mascara and lipgloss. She plays with eyeshadow but doesn't wear it to school. The group of girls she hangs with at school aren't interested in makeup so I think their influence keeps her from pushing me to allow her to wear more than just the gloss and mascara.

I didn't really care about my make up as a girl or most of my teenage life.
I got more into make up at 17-18 years old than I ever have. Although the girls in my school wore make up all the time.
The only time I did wear make up once at 13 years old was for picture day, and my mom did it for me. It was a thin liner and some mascara.
Considering my mom didn't and still doesn't want me to shave my legs, I'm pretty sure she would have me hung upside down if I wore make up so young, so thank god I was so carefree lol.
Now it's my dad who complains about make up, but he got used to it.

I was 14 when I started wearing makeup and it was just usually eyeliner and lipstick, at 15-16 I got more into it but I wasn't allowed to leave the house with a full face. When I turned 17 I got really good and I wore makeup pretty much everyday after that. I'm 19 now and I wear kind of a lot but it's become my passion.

My mom always told me and my sister that we could wear it in the9th grade but my sister always had bad acne and wore foundation to help cover it. then she moved to masala and eyeliner in the 7th now 8th. last year I was a twirler and we would have to wear make up to school for the performance which was like 5 min after lunch so we kinda dint have time. after a while my mom said it was too frustrating and said I could wear it to school and now the seasons over (about to start) and now she always tells me in really good soo yea... 12 and 13 (7th )

I didn't start wearing makeup till my freshman year when I was 14. And that was very seldom that I wore it. I'm now a junior and can't live without it! 🙊

I have been wearing makeup sice I turned twelve, I wouldn't start wearing it until then though, it can cause some major breakouts and make your eyelashes a lot thinner and shorter.

I think you should wear makeup if you really want to... I don't think we should let make up define us as a certain type of person with certain types of intentionsions.
Makeup is an art form.
I do however, believe that you are younger, 13 years old or so then the makeup should be light and nothing too drastic.
Wear what you want, just wear it with class and style :) x

I never really tried to wear makeup before 12th grade, it was funny cause my mom and my sister AND my friends never wore makeup and didn't show me how to apply it so for a little while I was wearing eyeshadow without mascara cause I liked the colors and I didn't get what mascara was for lol! I looked like a goof but you love and you learn lol :)

I started at about age 12/13. My parents didn't ever say I couldn't wear makeup but until I was about 14 I could only wear a very neutral tan eyeshadow, only lipgloss, and mascara.

I'm 13 but I'm only allowed to wear concealer and mascara no foundation or eyeshadow.

The most makeup I wore was lip gloss until about 14, your face is so fresh before that you shouldn't need makeup I feel, enjoy life for a while without having to worry so much about appearance! We put so much pressure on girls to look like the models and actresses they see growing up, I'd like my future kids to try and stay kids as long as possible. You have plenty of time to play with makeup when you get older.

I think I was about 13 but I only ever wore mascara. I was never told not too, I got into eyeshadows a few years later. I never wore foundation, I've got such a pale complexion I was worried of looking like I had an orange tide mark along my jawline. Alas that was 14 years ago. I now feel so old

I actually never started wearing makeup until I was 17...I was never told I couldn't, and my mom was an Avon lady back then, but I didn't care too much about my appearance in high school. Makeup kind of intimidated me too, and I just didn't wanna take the time to learn how. Nowadays at 23, I have a large amount of makeup all over the place and do full faces almost every day.
