Well, maybe not quite a rant just puzzling. I went to the Estee Lauder counter to get the Double Wear Maximum Coverage Foundation in 1 shade lighter than Creamy Tan (whichi already own). I want to use the lighter shade as an undereye concealer. So they matched me with Vanilla 03...perfect! Then when they went to the drawer to get it for me, she couldn't find my shade. Then her supervisor told her they've don't have it. Then they checked the computer to order it for me, then she tells me no store has it. And then she tells me they are discontinuing that shade. I was so disappointed esp. when they already told me they didnt have my shade in the Double Wear BB Cream also! Well the kicker is that they left the testers still on display even though they were supposedly sold out on one shade & discontinued on another shade. I'm sure they have their reasons for doing that, but it was so aggravating.

I asked if I could buy the tester & she said she couldn't. And she didn't offer to give it to me & I would never ask. She kinda looked like new employee.

It's really stupid of them leaving the tester.. they will only loose clients by doing that so it's a lost for them! I hope you'll find the right shade because I know it's difficult to find the perfect shade! good luck beauty :)

I agree they should have not had the tester out. Since it should be removed, what would it have harmed to give it to you? Clearly, you're a loyal customer of the company and they most certainly wasted your time.

Discontinue the whole Maximum line or just Vanilla 03?

Stores can't give out testers.. its a liability issue. if you were to get pink eye or an infection of some sort than they would be in big trouble.. also stores 'tester' out products before they are put on the shelf so they can't be sold or the count would be all off. I do agree, maybe they shouldn't have kept it on display so they wouldn't disappoint clients.

I think they're discontinuing the products because the active ingredient as listed on the tube Sandra posted is Titanium Dioxide, which is a Carcinogen. (Cancer causing agent). Lotsa sunscreens contain Titanium Dioxide because it acts as a physical barrier against sunlight, but of late, it has been linked to causing Cancer in humans, that is also the reason why Bare Minerals discontinued their powder sunscreen.

What the..,.?!?! Titanium has been on the market for decades! And they're just discovering it right now! Might as well crawl into a cave & stay there! (a little melodramatic? )
