Honestly I'm not sure. Usually generic versions are almost the same, but I know nothing about purple shampoo so I'd hate to advise you incorrectly on this.

This is used for blonde hair what it does is helps take out the yellow in blondes and grey if you look at the color wheel yellow and purple are across from eachother so they are complimentary and cancel eachother out so unless you have blonde hair that you want to brighten and take out some of the yellow it's pointless to use and even with blondes it just helps it's not dye so it doesn't always take all the yellow out.

What colour is the shampoo? Like the shade of purple, also what're you trying to achieve by using it? :) usually purple shampoos are used by blonde haired people trying to make their blonde a more ashy, sortof cooler shade of blonde. It won't do anything on dark hair.
