I love makeup but I love skincare more...especially as I get older and facing all sorts of weird skin issues. Slower cell-turnover and dry patches. I love going to Bluemercury to purchase my skincare because the selection is small but yet vast because all the lines available are top-notch. Plus it helps that the reps that work there are quite well-versed in skincare and what lines work best for various skin conditions/issues. As oppossed to Sephora where I feel like they know nothing so buyer beware.

A couple weeks ago I decided to amp up my skincare stash as I was hitting on empty on a few items and I felt like trying something different. I must say I'm quite impressed with M-61.
Brilliant Cleanse: I was given 5 sample packets of this gem and after the 2nd pack I decided that I needed to go full-size this week. This cleanser is an alpha beta hydroxy acid cleanser that does not suds up in a ton of lather but used in the morning it does a great job at removing the gunk that comes to the surface overnight. And it gives my skin a nice glow. Skin definitely feels a touch smoother after rinsing and using my toner.
Fast Blast: Its a 2-minute Vitamin C Facial Mask that I only use twice a week as its a skin brightener and gentle exfoliator. Its a nice pick me up but my only complaint is that its a pain to romove...it truly takes more than a quick rinse-off. It takes a lot of rinsing. But it is super gentle and its not drying to the skin.

Hydraboost Cream: This stuff is the bomb.com!! Since turning 40 I noticed the need to include more peptides in my rotation. Free of fragrance this stuff sinks into my skin and is great after using intense facial masks. Even though my skin is oily it still craves moisture and it has balanced out my oil slick and softened a frown line I had showing out om my forehead.

Power Glow Peel: These glycolic/salicylic acid exfoliating peels had me order three more boxes over the phone for store pickup after the second use!! This provides a deep exfoliation and gives my skin even greater clarity. Plus it helps with the lone pesky zit that decides to say hello.

I've tried a lot of skincare lines and very few have found themselves being repeat buys but this one has definitely become HG. Another bonus...the line is 100% paraben-free, synthetic fragrance-free and dermatologist and allergy tested.

Nhung...yes I do have a couple of affordable lines in mind...Garnier has a cream cleanser that is pretty good from what I hear from my neighbor and she has oily/combo sensitive skin. It states that the Clean+Smoothing Cream Cleanser is for dry skin but the last time I spoke to her she said it has been playing well with her oily areas. If you're in the 25+ age range I love RoC for the retionol line and its something I have in my collection and actually need to start reusing again because it really does work. As far as peptide moisturizers Olay has a good one (though I haven't personally tried it myself). I also believe Loreal has one as well and that company is under the same umbrella as the skincare line SkinCeuticals (another great but pricey high-end skincare company). I'm not a fan of grainy exfoilators so I suggest also checking out 100% Percent Pure line for their pineapple enzyme peel. It comes in powder form and you can mix one tablespoon of it with water or plain yogurt to create a past and then you apply it to the skin where you allow it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes. Can use it about once a week. Can find it on Amazon or Drugstore.com for about $17-20 bucks. I have AmorePacific powder enzyme peel and it goes for $68 but 100% Pure does the exact same thing for far less.

Thank you Shelley for such a thoughtful review. I do believe most higher end lines a more effective but find it difficult to part with my hard earned money and to decide which brands live up to their claims. It sounds like we have similar skin and you mentioned once how much you research before buying so thank you for posting your review. I will definitely be purchasing some products from M-61!
