Ms. Jacqlyn has inspired me to do something similar to what she's been doing with her Accutane updates. I have been on birth control for almost 3 years to help regulate everything and make them less painful. However recently (within the past year) the breakouts that I would normally get around the time of the month and such have gotten much worse. I decided to have my pills changed. I was taking orthocyclen, and last Sunday. I switched to Orthotricyclen. since I did this for the skincare purpose of it, I will only share those results with you thus far. All was going well, my face had started to clear some, however on the 5th day I started getting a cystic pimple on my right cheek. The next day I had 2 more. I'm not going to take pictures, because to be honest my skin isn't horrible and the cystic pimples seem to just be bumps, not red or inflammed. I'm assuming this is what they call the 'initial breakout' when you change pills. other than the cystic pimples, my skin is looking better, like the small regular pimples have gone away.
I hope you all don't mind this kind of contribution, please give me feedback or if you have questions let me know!

Ps. I will be on this pill for 3 months and if nothing improves by then, I will be seeing my doctor.

So are you still on the Orthotricyclen? That's what I've been taking for years to regulate my period and help with the pain. I barely get acne when it's that time of the month, but when I do, it's not a lot. It's like just one or two. I try to take extra good care of my skin during that time just to avoid it. Otherwise, it works well for me. :) I'll be following!

Yes, I am taking the orthotricyclen and before I was taking just orthocyclen. When you do get acne are they regular pimples or more cystic?

I hope it works, could you post pictures of your skin so we can see a visual?

They are usually just regular pimples. I rarely get cystic ones.

Glad orthotricyclen is working for you! I got really sick taking that one (nausea and vomiting every day, migraines) so I stopped and switched to something else. Acne has never been my main concern, thankfully, so I have a bit more freedom in choosing birth control. Hopefully this one works out for you. :)

I hope it works for you! I switched mine 4 months ago and my skin seems oily-er which I don't mind since it was dry and I don't really get hormonal spots anymore so thats good:)

I have dry skin too @Caitriona. I actually wouldn't mind if mine became oily either. Thank you so much!
