So I've seen a couple gurus on YouTube talk about how they shave their face. They do it with a razor meant for your face. Does anyone on here do this???

No, my derm says that if u shave your face, no matter what, the hairs wil grow back thicker and coarser. It doesn't feel nice as wel.

Im a beauty therapist/tutor....Never EVER shave your face!!! it causes the hairs to grow back blunt and appear thicker as well as over time sometimes stimulating them to grow back darker. it also can cause ingrown hairs and a shaving rash.....not so attractive on a female....

I do it on occasion. I have a lot of light blonde "peach fuzz" along my hairline (my hair is dark brown). I've been shaving that and my "mustache" (one downfall of having Mediterranean genes) for over 20 years now. It has never grown back thicker or darker. That is a myth

I guess it would all depend on the kind if hair you would be shaving. I don't imagine it's facial hair like a mans.

It doesn't grow back thicker/darker because women have vellous hair on their face not terminal hair (the hair grown in puberty & related to hormones etc) This fine, downy vellous hair grows back exactly how it was before you shaved it etc. You can go get it professionally done & the process is called Dermal Planning... Women swear by it. It's a great form of exfoliation & your make up applies a million times better :)

Never shave ur face, unless u want a little beard & mustache thing goin on there. Once u shave (or even pluck), the hair will always grow back darker and thicker than it originally was.

The hair that grows back may appear darker because it has never been exposed to and bleached by the sunlight. No matter what you do, you'll have to be consistent in any place that is visible to others. Shaving isn't what I would recommend though as it's very uncomfortable to hard to get everything. I would say waxing is your best bet.

I shaved my arms before. I regret it. My hair grew back thicker.

I haven't had an issue with my hair growing back thicker or darker. I shave my under arms, & legs. For the peach fuzz on my face I use a pixie razor. I'm 39 & have been doing this since I was a teen.

I can't believe how many of you buy into that myth. Nane, if your derm actually told you that I'd suggest finding a new one. http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2007/12/13/does-shaving-make-hair-grow-back-thicker.html

Oh and shaving is a really good exfoliant for your skin.

Look up "no,no!". It doesn't contain any blades and claims that hairs won't be seen for a few weeks, check out some reviews

Lol I love seeing the arguments about hair growing back thicker. Not possible! Think of the hair as a tree- it's thick at the stump and thins as it grows. That's how your hair is too, so when it starts growing back, it's just the thicker end of the hair.

Thanks ladies!! I know the whole hair grows back thicker is a myth. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience using facial razors. Not the kind you use to shave your legs - you aren't supposed to use those on your face. I've also heard its a great exfoliant and I believe Derm TV did a video on it.

I would never ever ever ever shave my face!!! I pretty much was everything from legs to eyebrows and everything in between. Shaving is such a hassle and the hair grows back so much thinner after waxing. As much as it hurts, especially in the "downstairs" region, it is so worth it
