Have some face wipes at hand. I also like to have a hand towel with me to wipe excess product from my brushes.

You'll want to have something under your eyes to catch the loose powder. I hate messing up my foundation when I do my eyes :(

Get tape bc it will make the lines a lot better look up tutorials and they will show you how to place it

Try to apply your concealer and/or foundation after you do the smokey eye, this way its easy to clean any fall out.

I would do a light colour ie. silvery white/light pink all over the lid, then apply a grey from the centre of your eye to the edge like in the picture above, then a black into the outer edge of the eye, then blend the black and the grey slightly and the grey and light slightly

What Naomi described is not a smokey eye, but a gradient eye. But what Lynzie posted is on point:)
