I have quite dry skin on my cheek areas because I'm using bp,but every time my face looks fine if I use moisturizer on top.
However I can't put on makeup on top of it,even a water based foundation, becca luminous ultra sheer foundation. All the dry patches show up :(
I already use AHA every other day at night, rosehip oil and moisturizer every morning.
I'm thinking can I put Vaseline on my cheek areas before foundation? would it help? I don't know why to get rid of those flaky dry patches...if you know then please let me know thank you :)

You should sleep with Vaseline on your cheeks... Wake up wash your face and moisturize.. But don't rub it in your cheeks let it sit and sink in and hopefully the dry skin should be a lot better after! Then apply your makeup.. I've don't it on dry skin and it helped :)

Vaseline is petroleum based and can clog pores..leading to breakouts. I'd try UnPetroleum which is plant based and feels just like Vaseline. Whole Foods has it. Sleeping in it works wonders.

As for your skin? Petroleum jelly can create the illusion of moisturized skin although it is really suffocating your pores. It's water-repellant and not water-soluble, meaning it basically seals the barrier so moisture doesn't leave the skin. So you might feel the instant gratification of a softened surface b t you're actually clogging and drying out your pores by keeping out air and moisture... That is why I don't recommend putting Vaseline on your face.

Exactly what MaKenzie said! If you are wanting a good moisturizer, then I say try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. Putting vaseline is just masking your skin and doesn't help provide moisture, also coconut basically does the same as vaseline. Alot of people recommend (and I used to use for two years) but it really did nothing for my dry skin

No! Speaking from experience it will clog your pores and creates breakouts!

Vaseline isn't a moisturizer. it just seals in whatever moisture is already there. which isn't much for you, so it's not going to help at all. plus what Makenzie said.

The only time I've used vaseline on my face was when I have colds and I put it on my nose to avoid dry and chapped skin from blowing it, but I wouldn't suggest using it under makeup. It would moisturizing, but it would make your foundation greasy and shift around and possibly them darker because of the uneven amounts. I DO suggest using it on your face at night. Use a heavy moisturizer first and then a semi thick layer over on the dry spots. Be sure to gently wash your face in the morning with cold water NOT HOT! it dries the skin out more! And the moisturize and put your makeup on.

No, No, No! Don't sleep with it on your face! Like I said before, It clogs your pores and doesn't let moisture, dirt, and oils out. It creates a barrier... Not good! Don't use it. It dries the skin out and does damage in the long run. Your results are like a mirage, your skin will seem soft and hydrated but it won't be...

I have eczema and before getting laser hair removal used to wax a lot...so really really irritated and dry flaky skin on my face... Used a glycerin based japanese moisturizer made for mountain climbers from sephora called yube. It worked great. I used to just take a pea sized amount and pay onto skin at night...and before makeup and throughout the day.

Another intense moisturizer I've used from sephora that was not strong smelling and more cream consistency is called first aid. Maybe go to sephora and get a sample of each and see if you like it/suits your skin.

Basically what everyone else has said, Vaseline doesn't moisturize. I wish people would stop recommending it as a facial and lip moisturizer. It doesn't actually put anything back into the skin. You need to replenish that moisture and Vaseline is not going to do that. I'd recommend moisturizing with a natural oil like Maracuja, argan, jojoba, etc. at night. Just make sure it's the unrefined oil, nothing else added to it. It will deeply moisturize the skin and then you can use a lighter moisturizer during the day.
