Awesome post Jackie!! I wish the industry would do away with those self-adjusting foundations as they aren't adjusting to most skintones. I fell for that with a Korean bb cream. It adjusted alright...I looked like a two toned bobble head.lol.

Wow Jackie you are such a beautiful person IN AND OUT!! This was EXTREMELY helpful!! Whenever someone asks for advice on here I almost always refer them to you or give advice based on what I've learned from you!! As far as foundations go it is all just so confusing! I Have yet to find that one foundation! I'm always going from one foundation to the next. I'm starting to think that there's just not one out there for me!!

Would it be possible to talk about additional specific examples from each category described? This was a very informative and helpful post. It would be awesome if people could suggest their favorite examples of each kind of foundation.
For example: how would L'Oréal Magic Nude liquid be categorized?

Love this information, Jacqueline, thanks a million for posting this!
I don't really have dry or oily skin, but tiny areas around my nose tend to get dry patches some of the time. I usually just wear a tinted moisturizer/bb cream because I do not require much coverage and I find it to be fast, easy, and low maintenance in my routine which I love. Though I rarely have blemishes or problematic skin, I do have a slight flush on my nose and cheeks, a couple of broken capillaries, and genetic dark circles (with very thin, sunken under eye skin). I always moisturize before my makeup routine, and definitely pay attention to the areas that tend to show dryness. Tinted moisturizers can usually cover up the redness, but when I want a little more coverage what type of foundation can I use that won't maximize the dry areas? I read Jocelyn's concerns, would the Shiseido foundation also be recommended for my skin, or should I look into something different?

Amazingly helpful thread! Jacqueline, my skin is very dry right now with this Chicago winter. Can you recommend any foundations that are satin or dewy, but not glittery? I'm already moisturizing and using a hydrating primer.
