Defiantly take her to the dermatologist. Watch what she eats, junk food can sometimes create acne. I recommend the whole rapid clear line by Neutrogena, some of the products have salicylic acid if that might worry you. Good luck!

She needs to see a dermatologist. Acne such as hers can sometimes leave scarring. It's time to call in a professional.

I agree, just go to a dermatologist right off. Don't waste money trying to find a product on your own. I have had acne since I was her age. I'm now 22, almost 22 and I wish I'd gone sooner or that my parents had just started off with a dermatologist from the beginning. I'd have had a lot less stress and wasted leas money trying to find a solution on my own.

It looks like regular acne that most teenagers experience. Going to a dermatologist will be a waste. You'll just spend excess money on medication and products that don't necessarily work. Don't teach your daughter that applying harsh unnatural chemicals is the way to go. What works (100% of the time) is a healthy diet, plenty of water, and a good regimen. Consider the OCM (Oil cleansing method)- it works wonders! You massage oil into the skin (castor oil is especially effective with acne) and then hold a steaming wash cloth to your face until it cools. There are many articles online that give more in-depth instructions and suggestions of oils. Tell her to drink about eight glasses of water daily but add a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to each glass. This will aid in digestion and make the skin glow from within. In my experience of bad acne, the OCM with castor oil and my ACV water has been enough to make my skin gorgeous! Acne is NOT a result of bad diet, but usually a sign that your body is missing something. The skin is the largest organ as they say and it shows first of all when something isn't right. Chances are, it's hormonal changes, stress, and digestive issues that cause it. Get tons of leafy greens and try checking out The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberley Snyder. I say go to the dermatologist, I regret not going sooner, I had acne like that and it I Tried all the natural ways to get rid of it even got on a healthy diet and it never worked for me, it doesn't work for everyone. I tried a million things and then finally went to the dermatologist and got on some medicine for it but had tons of scars before I decided to actually go in so I definitely regret not going sooner. I was out on some pretty harsh meds but it's the only thing that worked for me and I would do it again if I had to cuz my skin has now been clear for 3 years thanks to accutane.

My acne looks like her but a bit worse and I use sulfur soap. It's a yellow bar of soap that smells terrible and I buy it on amaIn for $5 I'm 17 and I wish I had used sulfur soap from a younger age! Yes, I still do have acne but it's pretty much controlled now... It worked wonders and was recommended by my dermatologist. I'm not sure why it works but it does and it clears up even servers acne!

My younger sister had acne like this as well & my mom finally gave into me telling her to bring my younger sister to a dermatologist & believe me it was the best move ever. They use gentle face peels that works wonders. My sister use to have to go every two weeks when she first started but now it's once a month or once every two months. I really do suggest you bringing her to see a dermatologist.

Jaclyn, I did get dry skin, but if you talk to your dermatologist they will tell you the best lotions to use so after I got some good lotion I was fine. You sunburn a lot easier so just make sure sunscreen is your best friend haha and I did get moody cuz I had to be on birth control with it but I've always had bad mood swings with birth control but I honestly would take it again if I had to, I have not had acne since it seriously changed my skin for the best and I noticed a change fast.

I've had worse dry skin being pregnant than being on Accutane so it wasn't bad at all.

Diet and a good skincare routine can help immensely, yes, but to say it works 100% of the time is NOT accurate. Acne is an extremely complex disease that doctors don't even fully understand just yet. They still are not 100% sure what all the causes and treatments of it are. There are certain antibiotics that treat acne but we still haven't been able to understand why it works, just that it does. To say that without a doubt just eating healthy and having good skincare will cure acne is not what will work for everyone so please don't say that it will. Acne can be genetic and hormonal, and diet will help both of those a little but it probably isn't going to clear it up 100% and for good. I have been there, my acne is genetic. I have done everything from changing my diet, buying a plethora of GREAT skincare products (that I might add all cost MUCH, MUCH more than all 3 of the prescription medications I'm on now.) and I STILL have acne. I know that it isn't because I don't take care of my skin. I use high quality products, moisturize, use sunscreen, spot treatments, have a routine, etc. The ONLY thing that has helped it significantly is seeing a dermatologist and getting prescription medications. On that note I'd also like to point out that chemicals are not all bad!! Just because it is a chemical doesn't automatically mean it's harsh and unnatural. Chemicals occur in nature too so they technically could be considered natural on some level.
Yes some of the prescription medications you could be prescribed can be drying on the skin. It was a HUGE reason I didn't want to go for years. I didn't want to absolutely dry out and torture my face. Then I took the plunge and went and it turned out it was just what I needed and was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Again, I'm not saying that diet and acne aren't related because they definitely are, but unfortunately something as simple as a diet change may not work for everyone. Acne is so stubborn and everyone's case and skin is different. I just wanted to reinforce that the more natural "easy" ways of treatment aren't going to work for everyone.
