They can some people are allergic to them or it's because of the oils in them (that's what I read somewhere). They don't make me break out.

I think thats different from person to person.
Some people should just look at peanuts or chocolate and break out like hell. And there's people who pretty much can live of it and not even get one pimple.

It really depends on the person; acne usually has to do with your hormones or being slightly allergic to something.

Breakouts are caused by hormones and genetics.
So it's very common for someone to break out when they're stressed.
Or if the family history shows that acne has been prevalent, then acne will most likely happen to you as well.
Could chocolate break you out? Maybe, probably not.
If your diet does consists of junk food and an excess of chocolate, then your skin will reflect that due to lack of nutrition and overindulging of chocolate.
And your skin might reflect that with breakouts, etc.

It can be. There are many, many things that can break someone out and diet is a HUGE factor. That's not to say that acne isn't/can't be hormonal or genetic, it definitely can be and is but diet DOES matter. Whatever we put into our bodies effects all of it including our skin. The skin is actually the largest organ on our bodies.
I would say that in chocolate though its probably more so because of hydrogenated oils and dairy products used in the production of it. The actual cocoa part of the chocolate usually isn't responsible for breakouts. (hence why dark chocolate is usually considered better for you because it is a "purer" form of chocolate without all that stuff added.) It also could be sugar in general. I'd try cutting down on dairy and anything else you may eat a lot of and see what happens. You could also check out a book on acne and nutrition. I read one called The Clear Skin Diet that was pretty informative. They break down a lot of myths about things like the whole chocolate contributing to breakouts, etc.and explain why it does or doesn't cause them as well as gives recommendations of good foods to eat to promote clear skin. The good thing is it isn't a really restrictive diet and it's very good for your health in general :)
