I love the stories behind blog names.
Mine is a play on my business name: Chic Geek Boutique.
I was looking for a way to tie my consignment eStore with a fashion blog. I wanted them to be separate entities yet have something that linked them together.
I've always considered myself a 'fashionista' and sometime even a 'maxxinista' (!) and I knew I wanted to use that as the base to my name. I also knew 'chic' would be the word that would become the common link.
It probably took 1.5 days but when it came to me... "fashionCHICsta" I just knew that was the right name. xoxo

I have a beauty( makeup, skin care, hair care) blog and I named mine Beauty Amplified! :)
I liked the name "Beauty Amplified" because I know that everyone is beautiful and that we can use makeup to enhance or "amplify" our naturally beauty....If that makes and sense!! lol
And besides...That's the only name I could think of!! Haha.
When I first saw your blog the other day I really liked the name...Now I know the story behind! :)
XOXO

Kabuki brush... kabuki theatre = makeup. Voodoo: magic/rituals.
That, and "kabuki + voodoo" sound fun together. Simple, catchy... almost a little nonsensical. That's the kind of fun I wanted to convey w/ my blog. =)

I've used the word Rivulets as a screen name in multiple websites before, so it just kinda happened to become my blog title, Rivulets Beauty!
...The beauty part is pretty self explanatory, I should think =P
Yeah, a rivulet actually means "a small stream"... not that exciting =P But I like the word, I think it's almost lyrical.

Mine is SomniumUltra its two words in latin. Somnium meaning dream and ultra meaning beyond. I was trying to do dreaming beyond but could find it in latin. To me its kinda like looking (dreaming) beyond what you might ordinarily see and going for it whether its going for something subtle or something way out there.

I named my Makeup Chic, Literary Geek because it really defines so much of my personality!
I am a serious makeup lover and I'm a writer by profession. I thought my title had a nice ring to it ;)
Love this thread btw, these stories are really interesting!

When I was a kid, my brother had a Fender Custom Deluxe Telecaster guitar that was glossy red (the same color as our mom's lipstick), and I would listen to him for hours playing punk covers and singing along. Years later, when I got into the beauty biz, I got to thinking about that guitar and how both the color and the sound from that era influenced my own style and approach to beauty. BUT! I couldn't exactly have a moniker that grifted off of the legendary guitar company, so...
Fast forward to a few years later, I was wandering around the apothecary at Barney's with a friend - she pointed to a perfume bottle and said something about it being a deluxe size (it was huge actually) and I said "yeah, that's ULTRA deluxe". And that's how my blog name was born. ultradeluxe.
Though I don't just blog about makeup - I blog about beauty in all its forms: art, music, fashion, thoughts, writing.

Meet Makeup- when i first started my blog i was selling avon and mark and had a website on yolasite. I used Meet Makeup because Mark.'s "catch phrase" is meet Mark. so i decided to be really really original (haha) and go with Meet Makeup.
i have a twitter account under MeetMissJackson. My last name is Jackson and my email is MissJackson8088(at aol.com) I wanted people to be to familiarize the 2- so I am always Meet Makeup or Meet Miss Jackson - i thought it was a fun little play on words, no?

@Nancy-Lee - my brother thinks I should've poached the Custom Deluxe name! But he lives and breathes guitars; his last two pets were called Fender and Gibson. Ha! He did help with my Twitter account name though,@ ___cherrybomb - after the iconic Runaways song that I used to try and belt out when I was little =)

Chanel's black satin nail polish was something I was extremely obsessed with for over two years. Wore the color constantly and I've already gone through 3 bottles. Even though it is just a plain black color I love the formula of the polish. One top is all I need and lasts for such a long time.
When deciding on a name I just chose my favorite nail polish. Nothing special haha.

My blog name is Glam Morena, but originally it was La Morena. In Spanish Morena means dark (or brown) skin or hair... like a brunette. When I purchased a domain I changed it and I used glam instead of glamorous.

Mine isn't all that interesting... but I'm an oddball who occasionally decides meowing is a fun thing to do, either in person or typing "meow" or "mew" into an aim conversation. "Mieu" came into play when I was talking to a friend one night and brainstorming names. Both of us had taken different language classes and knew that meow in Spanish was "miau" and in French "miaou". So, we began spelling meow and mew with different letters. Thus "Mieu" was born and Mieu Makeup just seemed to sound really good. XD

My beauty blog name is actually based off of my main personal blog which is Adorability.org. I've had that blog for years now and decided I wanted to separate the beauty posts from the regular posts so I started a blog called "Adorability Beautified" and then later changed it to "AdoraBeauty" to shorten the name. =)

Sunday Sprinkles came from a weird conversation with my best friends at school. It was during the major part of the whole Nicki Minaj "Barbie" thing, and we were trying to come up with goofy names to call ourselves. I went from being Barbie Sprinkles, than to Sprinkle Cakes, then to finally "Sundae" Sprinkles.
I love ice cream, so the name seem to fit. Following that name, I change it Sunday (my favorite day to pig out before a long week) Sprinkles and based my blog on all things "sweet" just like my name =).
