Hey this is to everyone that has a blog domain without any .blogspot or whatever. I want to know what the benefits are of paying the money to get a domain name?

I am thinking about doing it but I just want to know why I should?

Are there more features? Do you use the blogspot domain name for 10$ a year or another one?

Please let me know! I can't decide what I want to do, so I need some advice!

I recently bought mine and I think it's worth it. It gives your blog a more professional feel, and shows that you really do care about your blog. It directs you to this google setup thing that was really confusing, and the only thing I got out of it was a new email address for my blog. So now if I email companies or they want to email me, they email info@breakfastatgraceys.com instead of my silly personal email address, which I think is more professional and shows you are serious about keeping up with your blog.

And it's only $10 a year so, why not?

I did it because it looks cleaner and more presentable. Your content shines through your domain name and it is no longer associated with just being a "blog" anymore... (even though it technically is). It is your place, your space to create whatever you feel represents YOU.

That, and it's just so much more kick ass to say you're a domain name owner... ;)

Definitely worth it if you really want to show you put more effort into blogging.

yeah both of those comments make sense! :)

I think I may do it! :)

I don't think it's necessary, but it is an inexpensive way to give your blog a more polished and professional appearance, even if it is just a hobby. If it becomes something more serious, you've already set the stage to take it to the next level.

Sure, Abbie! Here you go: www.kabukivoodoo.com

Kabuki brushes and makeup magic. I'm slowly [but surely] drawing out my own layout so I don't have to use that generic theme template I found... it was SUPER cool Beautylish featured it in one of their recent articles... BUT SUPER EMBARASSING when I saw my page screen shot in the picture they used. The "Aww... how cool!" moment was short lived once the "Doh!" hit me as I realized revamping the design didn't come soon enough... =/

Def. get into pouring your heart out into your blog though... I've learned a lot through it: Photoshop, photography, design, drawing, and some web design... it's a nice way to branch out of makeup and pick up a few new skills.  =)

Thanks girls! I decided to do it! I am now http://mymaneblog.com

It is pretty cool, but now I can't edit my posts or my page from my blog. I have to go into the design. Do you have this problem?

Yay congrats! The first few days when my blog was "in transition" I had to go to design to edit my posts but it eventually went back to normal.
