do you ALWAYS do your make up the same way?

i couldn't think of a better way to title this! let me break it down for you.

my eye make up always goes (after primer/base); "base" eyeshadows first, then outer V/smoke it out/whatever, highlight inner corner/brow bone & finally lower lash line (shadow or liner). obviously eyeliner & mascara (i can't fathom doing it the other way).

on my face (after moisturizer/primer); some concealer, foundation, more concealer if needed, powder, bronzer, blush, highlight. always bronzer, blush, highlight. ALWAYS.






haha, i just have a natural order of things i guess. i see some beauty gurus that apply the brow bone highlight first & i cringe a bit inside. i generally do my face & then my eyes. but if i'm going to be using a shadow with a lot of fall out or shimmer, i tend to reverse it.



so what i'm wanting to know is does anyone else have natural order of things? same way evey single time no matter what? haha. i guess i find that my routine works pretty good for me. i don't know where i picked up my habits.





(fun fact?! right sock, left sock, right shoe, left shoe. ALWAYS. :p)

First I prime my eyes, fill in my eyebrows, do my lid color, transition color and highlight. Then I do my eyeliner and curl my eyelashes. Next I move to face primer, tinted moisturizer, concealer, and powder. After all of that, I do my bronzer, blush and cheek highlight :)

I always do my eyes first then my face because if a get even a little fallout on my lower lash line area, I like to clean it up really good so my eyes look bright!

Most of the time I always do it the same as in the colors and looks I do, sometimes I change up the colors I use, but I ALWAYS follow the same routine. I start off with my moisturizer, sometimes I use primer if I'm going to be wearing my makeup for a really long period of time, then I do my liquid foundation, powder, then bronzer, then I move onto my eye makeup and start off with my nyx eyeshadow base (which is amazing), then eyeshadow, which is usually Phloof by MAC all over the lid and also as a highlight for my brow bone and inner corner, then satin taupe in the crease and outer corner, then I do my mascara and eyeliner. Then if i decide to wear blush that day, I always do that very last, no clue why!

I almost always do the same general routine. I always start by applying my foundation primer, then apply my eye primer,under eye concealer, shadow and liner while the foundation primer dries. Then I apply my foundation, concealer if needed, setting powder and finally my lipstick or gloss. Sometimes I throw blush in the mix at the very last minute if I want extra oomph and color.

My face routine is ALWAYS the same:
Mattyfying lotion.
Anti-aging primer for the undere eye area.
Concealer.
Cream highlighting/contouring
Eyebrows
Foundation
Mineral foundation
Blush
HD powder.

The eyes change up depending on my mood.

I switch up the colors but always go with the same routine

Moisturize, prime my lids, apply base color that highlights up to the brow bone, eyeshadow on my lid, medium eyeshadow in my crease, darker on the outer v, highlight inner tear ducts, curl lashes, apply eyeliner (sometimes) and/or mascara

Then I conceal, sometimes apply tinted moisturizer, bronzer and/or blush, sometimes cheek highlight, apply lip balm, and sometimes a lipstick and/or lipgloss

LOL I never noticed that my routine is almost always the same!!! How weird lol

haha yup! i noticed mine was about the same too! i have to do bronzer, blush, then highlight. i feel like if i start bottom to top, i can't screw it up for some reason. but i'm afraid if i start by highlighting, i might not do it evenly & look like i have lop-sided cheeks!

What makeup look I do on my eyes change depending on how I'm feeling that day but I NEVER do my face then my eyes. I ALWAYS do my EYES FIRST and then I work on my face. I tend to get a little fall out and I rather just wipe it off my face than put extra powder under my eyes to brush off the fall out. Like yourself, I can't deal when people do their face first! But then I tell myself we are all different and that's what makes us beautiful and I get over it and continue watching the tutorial LOL

After washing and drying my face....
First thing I do is get my primer an put it on my eyes.
Then I apply some moisturizer and I let those two things set at I do my eyebrows.
Then I do whatever sort of makeup I feel like doing on my eyes and then I do my face makeup which consists of : Mattyfying lotion, Studio Fix, blush and bronzer. I hate highlighting my face, since I have oily skin. Then I set everything with my MUF HD powder andddd all set! Picture Perfect!

Apply a teeny tiny bit of powder foundation

This is so interesting to see how all of you order your routines! I find it quite fantastic!

As for me, I usually do face makeup first (excluding blush, and highlighting) and finish with eyes. The funny thing with my eyes is I do the left first completely and then the right because I'm so used to it from recording makeup tutorials! I can't concentrate when I have to do both at the same time haha.

i don't know how girls who record tutorials do it. if i were to do that, i'd do the first eye fantastic, but inevitably screw up the second one & have it look completely different! haha.

I am such a creature of habit. I do the same routine every single day, too. Face first, then eyes, then blush/bronze/possible highlight, finish with lips. LOL I didn't realize it until you wrote this. When I do tutorials, I change it up a bit, but that is the only time!

I do this in other parts of my life, too. I have the same cold coffee, the same salad for lunch, and often even the same dinner. Its really creepy, now that I think about it!

haha oh stephanie we are all creatures of habit to some point i would say! i do my face first unless, like kristina said, there's going to be tons of fall out! then i just save myself the frustration & do my eye make up first!


stephanie; i take the same routes to & from work everyday. i go a different way for each way. i don't know why i do it. my car broke down awhile ago & my mom took me to work; i got SO mad when she didn't go the way i told her. i should time each way one day! haha. & instead of your cold coffee, i have the same 16oz coke at work every morning (hand pumped cokes- the best ever!). what would we do if they stopped making coffee & coke?

haha! Right? I pay way too much for mine, too! There is a local coffee shop that I started going to sort of to support hometown businesses--and then I never stopped. He sees me drive up and he just makes it before I even roll down the window. He would lose his mind if I ordered something different. LOL

Ok, so what's a hand pumped Coke?? Do you mean a fountain one?

haha my mom is like that at this little drive up convenience store we have & sometimes they're not even open yet & they still have her coke when she rolls up!

a hand pumped coke is better than a "fountain" coke. we pump the coke syrup (or diet coke, sprite, etc) into the cup, then we add the carbonated water & stir it up into a coke! i work at an old fashioned soda fountain...that should probably tell you a lot if you know about them! we have ice cream sodas, phosphates, all that good stuff! :D

I too ALWAYS do eye first..well eyebrows eyeshadow then face and lips last. I also tend to do my right eye whenever I am trying a new look..its my right eye. All my tattoos are on my right side...strange...now I think on it.

I like Blinks comment apply face and eye primer, let that set while doing eyebrows. I need to try that also.

I guess we all feel comfortable in our routines.
