Hey guys! As alot of you do, I search the web and watch youtube videos to find ways to keep my hair healthy.
I am relaxed, however my sister is transitioning to natural. My sister is trying to convince me, but I am more than content with my relaxed hair.
Well, my question is, can relaxed heads use natural hair products and methods. I've been using some of my sister's products and buying my own natural products from the store because the ingredients look better. I also enjoy co-washing sometimes as well.
However, when I told this to one of my friends who are natural, she jumped all over me!!! Saying it was a waste, and none of this stuff is going to work for my head, even though I told her co-washing has been benefitting me. And acting as if the products were too good for my hair.
Has anyone else felt belittled by natural haired girls? I'd just like to know. : /

In the end it is your hair! and if it is working for you then it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks :D

Well.. you can use those products but since you do have a relaxer you might want to use products that are for relaxed hair, but I dont think that it will hurt.

This natural vs. relaxed hair is ridiculous to me.
Do whatever you want to your hair and use whatever products and hair methods that you want. If it works for YOU then who cares what someone else has to say about it.
Andrew - Tyra wears a wig most of the time. lol

@Raisa - agreed. And yes...Tyra wears a whole lotta hair.
@Kia - you *can* use products for natural hair to encourage moisture, but they won't change the structure of the hair you already have.

I don't think it matters so much whether you use natural or relaxed products, rather you need to look at the needs of your hair & determine what products will best serve those needs. Just be mindful that the products you eventually decide on, you don't want a bad reaction with the relaxer when you have the next touch up.
There's nasty attitudes on both side of the fence. Naturals belittling relaxed and vice versa, pretty sad state of affairs actually. Insecurity is never a good look.

Andrew - She's among many that wear what's called a lace front wig. It has a natural hair line and makes it look more realistic. Beyonce is another one known for wearing them. lol

i say go for what you know. while there are some differences in taking care of natural and relaxed hair, there is some overlap as well. both natural and relaxed hair require moisture and protein to be in their most healthy and manageable state. i have recently gone natural in the past few months, but when i was wearing a relaxer i actually found that some products that were geared toward natural hair made my relaxed hair feel amazing : ) everyone's hair is different and i think you should just find what works best for you and keep on trucking : ) good luck in your experimenting!

i know of this one chick who uses only natural hair care products for her relaxed her and it's beautifully straight looking
you CAN if you wanted, go natural and just keep blowing out your hair, so it looks straight; natural hair care products are much healthier for the hair than products that are meant for relaxed hair, at least in my own opinion.
I wear my hair in a fro, so i can't exactly relate with wearing straight
you should research it! it just depends on what you want to do :D
