I've been using CoverGirl Clean make-up for years, and I like it, but I've been wanting to try a mineral brand.
I've had trouble figuring out which is the better brand to try.
A lot of people are saying CoverGirl's new Natural line, but I'm wondering how it compares to Bare Minerals or any others that I may not have heard of.
I'm looking for one with good coverage for acne. Any help would be super-appreciated!

is their a particular reason why you want mineral makeup? With ance prone skin it doesn't sound like a good idea...you are not going to get any coverage unless you put the whole bottle on your face in one sitting. And please don't have fresh ance scarring because the powder over scars will look pretty foolish.

I too have also tried Bare Minerals. It is overpriced. It is a great product though. I do enjoy the great coverage it lends, depending on the layering. However, economically speaking, at the drugstore I have found a mineral foundation that I have found to be quite similar to Bare Minerals: Loreal, True Match Naturale. It costs approx. 1/3 of Bare Minerals and I love the fact that it does last all day. It too, can be layered depending on the coverage you desire. Hope that helps!!! c:

@Angel M. I've heard a few good things about the mineral make-ups online, but no one I've asked (of friends) has ever tried it. No particular reason, but I wanted to try one different from what I have been using which of only ok as far as staying on (CoverGirl Clean foundation). And no, I don't have a lot of scarring, just the acne.

I have acne prone skin and my dermatologist recommended GloMinerals makeup. It works amazing! It is not just powder-based makeup, either. I like coverage and GloMinerals has an awesome liquid foundation and concealer that covers imperfections while not breaking my face out further. I've been using it for 3 years now and I can't live without it. You should definitely check it out:)

I really like Purminerals, which I've found gives a bit more coverage than Bare Minerals (which I used to use for years). You are probably aren't going to get amazing coverage for acne with any mineral makeup since they are geared towards being very light and natural...but between BM and PM, I've found that Pur Minerals wins as far as coverage goes and it evens out my skin quite well. Those are the only 2 mineral brands I've tried though! :)

Mineral makeup is great for acne prone skin if it's the right brand. The higher the quality the better. Be careful, many brands say they are mineral even if it just has a trace of minerals in it because there are no FDA rules to labeling. Mineral makeup is great really for skin types because when you buy the right quality, it reflects light giving a natural glow, while allowing your skin to breathe. And you would need less because when layered it can looks too flat. I use an all- natural mineral foundation from a company named KROMA Makeup. They are gluten free (contains wheat, which can cause reactions because of being overly processed and consumed in everything we use) and dermatologist tested. While some mineral makeups may be nice at first, the additives can wreck havoc on your skin. I actually did a review on it on my blog-- www.bellakiss-mimi.blogspot.com. I love it because I have oily skin and it actually helps with controlling my shine. and again the better the quality, it can help with breakouts that are caused by clogging of the pores

Girls, if you have never tried Lucy Minerals... omg. You have to. Hands down, swear on my life best mineral foundation I have ever used. Period. And it's a 30g jar for $14. Bare Minerals is 25g I believe for almost 30 bucks and in my opinion it doesn't cover as well and the finish isn't as nice. I'm telling you... Lucy Minerals covers everything, looks flawless and natural, and feels good on the skin. No Bismuth Oxychloride either. http://lucyminerals.com/

I agree, not a fan of mineral loose powder makeup. If having to choose mineral makeup...I would got for a pressed mineral. Bare Minerals does contain bismuth oxychloride that can be very irritating and cause itching and a rash. The matte is a better option if you had to choose between the original formula because it doesn't have the illuminating effect. Amazing cosmetics makes a pretty good mineral powder. I know YoungBlood cosmetics has a good name with celebs. If you are concerned about skin sensitivity and acne prone skin then Cover FX is a good option and so is Lorac wet/dry powder foundation. Dk if both are mineral but they are great for people with sensitive skin.

At the salon I work at we use Jane Iredale mineral makeup and I think the foundations are great. They have a liquid mineral, pressed and loose. The loose is full coverage and for oily/combo skin. I use a liquid and then the loose on top for coverage and it gives beautiful coverage over acne marks. It also has never bothered my oily skin.
