I find my hair to be extremely dull with no volume. Just this year I heard about clarifying shampoo. Can you give me some inputs on what your favorite clarifying shampoo is? :)

"Almost everyone has heard of clarifying shampoo, however not everyone knows what it is and the proper way to use it. The purpose of clarifying shampoo is to deep clean the hair and remove product buildup. Products that are used for styling such as mousse, gel, hair spray, and even shampoo and conditioners that are used daily can build up over time. As these products build up, they can add weight to the hair making it appear flat. These products can also make hair appear lifeless and over time, the hair will begin to lose its shine. Using a clarifying shampoo periodically can work to remove the buildup and restore the bounce and natural highlights to hair."(info taken from an article I read)
two inexpensive daily clarifying shampoos are Pantene & Suave that you can buy at your local durgstores. Hope that helps =)

I'm a hairdresser and I color my hair and use styling products almost daily so I use a clarifying shampoo every two weeks or so (when I feel the build up). The BEST one I have ever used is Redken's Hair Cleansing Cream. This stuff is amazing— it has citrus extracts so it works gently— but it works awesomely. I shampoo with it, letting sit on my hair for around five or 6 minutes(while I'm shaving in the shower) then I rinse and I follow with a deep conditioner— I love Joico's K-pak or Brocato's deep conditioners, I let the conditioner sit for 3 min or so. P.S a great product to use daily for amazing shine and softness is Biosilk Silk Therapy Cure. I'm always asked how I get my hair so shiny— the secret is a GOOD clarifying shampoo, using a GOOD shampoo and conditioner for your specific hair need( I use Redken for Color, Brocato for Color or Pureology) a deep conditioner to follow your clarifying treatment, and some good leave in products to protect your hair from daily stresses such as heat or the sun. Hope my hair tips help you get to and Enjoy your shiny do!

Thanks to both of you now I understand the concept of the clarifying shampoo! :)

FYI: Pantene doesn't make a clarifying shampoo anymore. They discontinued it when they redesigned their line.

I second Redkin! My mom is a hairdresser, and says its the best as well!

For clarifying I would suggest trying either Shampure or Rosemary Mint by Aveda...and for body or volume I suggest trying the Pure Abundance line from Aveda.. I'm a cosmetologist and suggest using clarifying shampoo about once a week and then other moisturizing shampoos all the other times you wash your hair because you don't want to strip all the natural oils from the hair (that causes the dull heaviness or limp look)
