Thanks Jordan!

milk of magnesia

@Patricia Are you planning to use the de-slick in your kit or on yourself? The reason why I ask is because if you're using it on a quick shoot where you put the makeup on and wash it off a few hours later the de-slick and some press powder should hold up under the lights for those few hours. If you are trying to use it on yourself (or maybe a bride with oily skin) the shine will return by mid day. In this case I would say skip a moisturizer in the morning and opt for a super rich one at night. Also try putting a thin layer of milk of magnesia on the face which will help to dry up the skin. Magnesium (which is the same ingredient here) is a mineral used in the ocean to clean up oil spills. Again, for a person with really oily skin stop at the toner and then go in with the MOM since adding other products to the skin such as a serum or a moisturizer will only be counter productive...the MOM will spend a few hours drying up those products and then you'll (your client) will be oily again.

I use it as a primer in most cases. The trick is figuring out how "oily" your bride is. I find the many people SAY they have very oily skin even if it's not that oily. Ask the bride questions such as when in they day they notice the oil, where would they say they notice the oil (example: in the t-zone, all over, etc.), what do they/have they done to treat the concern, and finally I would look at their skin myself and ask them how their skin feels and looks right now. If they say it feels and looks great and I can see an all over shine that tells me that they may like a bit of a dewy look and its possible their skin can become even oilier throughout the day. I said that to say, I personally hate shine on my face of any kind (many people with very oily skin covet a matte finish). If I use moisturizers and mattifying primers my skin becomes oily (most times) before I even finish applying my makeup. For a person like me, I would say use a cleanser and a toner then MOM followed by foundation. So you'd skip ever other skin care app including a primer (anything water binding, silky or greasy). For a client who isn't so oily or maybe just has an oily t-zone go with everything from a cleaner, toner, serum, moisturizer, primer and then a light coat of MOM in the areas of concern. MOM will turn the face white but the makeup will cover it. Hope that helps give you some ideas to add to your arsenal of painting faces.
