Lol I apologize ahead of time for the long post.

I personally use a DSLR camera for my pictures, but those can get very expensive depending which brand/model you choose as well as all the other miscellaneous costs. However, they provide a depth of field in images that point and shoots can't. (But I suppose with makeup that doesn't matter too much...) DSLRs also have better image quality because of how they are built AND most importantly, they are very customizable. You can set the aperture, shutter speed, change lenses and more. This will be a camera that you can use years into the future of your career and it will still work beautifully.

If you have the money to spend, i'd say go for it since they are great cameras, but if you don't have the money, regular point and shoots have come a long way and with the right amount of research and practice, you can learn to work it the way you want. (but as you can see, i'm biased haha!)

No matter what camera you choose, lighting is most important (I feel). The right lighting will most accurately show your work. But for sake of space in this post, that is all easily researchable online ;)

And in terms of doing well, the purpose of school is to learn how to do things! You'll improve and learn over time. Also practice, practice, practice!! On yourself, others, face charts, etc. I'm sure you'll be fine if you're confidant in your abilities, really take in the lessons, and just love what you're doing!

Good luck and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! :)
