So two days ago I started a new skincare routine. I've started using the Biore all-in-one astringent, Clean&Clear morning burst skin brightening cleanser, Clean&Clear morning glow moisturizer and St.Ives apricot scrub. The day after I started this new routine, the corners of my nose, the outside corners of my eyes, ,and my upper lip have become very dry and red with irritation. And yes all of these products are gentle enough for daily use. My skin type is oily if that helps at all. PLEASE HELP ME!

Just a suggestion, since I had the same problem just a few weeks ago. I asked my mom, and she's a dermatologist. Hydration is key, so you have to find products that suit your skin type. I'm not sure if Celeteque is available everywhere, but that's currently what I'm using right now. I apply the hydration facial moisturizer twice a day after spraying on the hydrolyzed moisturizing mist by Celeteque as well. I hope I helped a bit! :)

The Biore astringent contains a lot of alcohol, which can be really damaging to skin. =/ The St. Ives scrub is also really harsh (unless you are using the gentle version) and I would definitely not use it everyday...I used to as well and my skin was not happy at all. Check out Beautypedia.com, which has all the products you use listed in their database (unfortunately, they all have poor ratings so they could be what is irritating your skin and causing dryness) but you can also use it to look up products that won't be as damaging. I would stick to gentle cleansers and moisturizers (CeraVe is a great brand!) that don't have any added fragrance or anything that would overly dry out your skin. For exfoliation, you don't really need a harsh scrub to get the job done...you can use a product that contains salicylic acid but no alcohol (theres one by Neutrogena - the 3 in 1 hydrating acne treatment - that is a good one!). Hope that helps!

I completely agree with everything Melanie G. said! Drop those harsh products and switch to CeraVe! It saved my skin last year and I don't use anything else now!
For super dry skin, use their moisturizing cream that comes in a tub... Once that fixed my dryness... I switched to the PM lotion since I didn't need that crazy of a moisturizer anymore. Love their gentle cleanser, but still interested in trying their foaming cleanser.

try using vitamin e oil or a small amount of shea butter on your face daily, it will intensely moisturize your face and shea butter is a mild spf so it would be good to use the shea in the morning and the vitamin e at night.

btw, you should never use a apricot scrub on your face because the sharp edges of the crushed apricot pits scratch up your skin cells on a microscopic level, damaging the skin. it is best to exfoliate with a sugar scrub, sugar has smooth edges and melts as you work it into your skin. I like to mix brown sugar, olive oil and cut open a green tea bag and use the tea to mix into a paste for my scrub. the sugar exfoliates, the olive oil moisturizes and the caffeine and antioxidants tone the face all at once.

some other great natural skin care products are using honey as a face mask and using strawberries as a toner

This happened to me a few months ago! I started using a different moisturizer (Hope in a Jar from Philosophy), and before I applied the moisturizer I would use a few drops of Mario Badescu's Rose Hips Nourishing Oil. It worked wonders for my skin, and you only really need a few drops, especially since you don't seem to be dry all over.

I use Alba green tea and aloe moisturizer in the morning and again at night after I wash my face. It seems to work pretty well.

do you use the scrub daily? if yes u shouldn´t. srubs (not important if bodyscrubs or facialscrubs, it´s even the same important!) u shouldn´t use everyday, it´s made for using one time a week for very oily skin, all 2or 3weeks one day for "normal"skin - combination skin (not very dry variation!!!) and one time a month for dry skin for very dry skin less than one time a month ;)
and very important for most skintype and problems a mosturising care...sometimes (very seldom) it´s not the "water" what´s missing than you need "oil" or products with shea butter, a rich cream. if u have a dry skin which need moisturising with water and use products withe shea butter or a big amount of oil ur skin can lot´s of impurities...and the reason is teh cream u use;)

Try another Skincare routine. Don't choose cleanser which is very harsh to skin. Only choose the mild ones. Then, pick a toner which is very suited to your skin type and choose ones which only contains low alcohol content. Lastly, choose a perfect moisturizer for your skin.

REN's Omega 3 Serum under their Frankincense night cream is my dry skin savior in the winter. Yeah they're pricey but they are extremely concentrated and you don't need a whole lot of product. And they didn't break me out!

Rodan and Fields has an amazing new SOOTHE Regimen for the dryness and red irritation!! It is a 4 part regimen- the cleanser has NO alcohol, colors or fragrance (all can irritate) then the peptides stop the irritation and shield from bacteria, then the moisture replenishing cream hydrates the skin and locks it in and the last step protects from any further irritations!! It really has helped so many people with dry itchy conditions!! You can order at www.antiagingplus.co!!

OH!!!!!!!! Check the contents of the products you use on your skin! They list contents of the product (on everything, food, hair product, facial stuff, you know) in order from first (greatest amount) to least (least amount) I was using a Bath&Body hand moisturizer and my hands were red and irritated and it really wasn't helping besides the fact that my hands smelled like heaven. then i checked the contents and they had all types of alcohol in their moisturizer that you wouldn't even know existed and I was like... oh.
So yeah, long story short- there should be little or no alcohol content in your skin products, ESPECIALLY facial skin care!! Learned this the hard way..
