I was talking to my mom today and she metioned how she is afraid my bright makeup would attract the wrong kind of attention. I didn't really understand what she meant so she further explained that she is afraid someone will try to snatch me up because my makeup caught their attention.
Has anyone ever said somthing like this to you? I've never heard this argument towards creative makeup before and was curious.
Seems kind of silly to me, but there are a lot of creepy people in the world so I don't know.

My parents always worry when I do smokey eyes and deeper shades that I tend to look alot older then I am, same thing with the creepy people in the world. And I've definitley gotten comments and questions wondering if I was older. I get that all the time from my parents and others, and I tend to just shake it off. I mean obviously theirs creepy people in the world, so even if I walked around with no makeup I just stay as cautious as I would with makeup (:

You can always counter and tell your parents your makeup sets you apart from the crowd, so people would notice you're missing if you ever disappear, and that would make you less desirable to kidnap since you'd be noticed missing too soon... =P

Just parents being concerned. Gotta appreciate it and feel loved. So many young girls today don't have that.

I went to Walmart with big ol' purple, red, and pink eyeshadow on and I live in country redneck town, North Carolina and I was just fine. I think you'll be okay. c:

It does just sound like your mom's being over-protective, haha.
I've always been sure to wear flats, pants, no earrings and no ponytail when I have to walk at night, but I don't think makeup will make any difference.

Don´t worry i think your mom is just looking out for you, nothing mean or anything in what she said. I think the world is so twisted today that the small things you do, can automatically make you stand out. So don´t worry..

@Catey: Those are some great tips that I never knew about, thank you!!
@Freddie & Maria: Oh I wasn't worried at all I was just wondering if any one else has gotten that statement before :) Seemed unusual to me, I had never heard of it before.
It's nice knowing my mom is protective of me :D

Ha, yea I've gotten that statement before loads of times, but not just from my mom. My whole family enjoys chiming in and giving me their unwanted opinions about my makeup lol

I think your mom loves you and just like every caring parent might be a bit afraid of you attracting any kind of attention.
However, keep in mind that depending where you live, some type of makeup looks can be asscociated with women that live a certain lifestyle. Just be cautious that you are not giving off that type of idea. I am not trying to disrespect you at all. I had a similar situation. I went to go live in the Dominican Republic and I love bold lip colors. I always use red, hot pink, deep burgandy, etc. I noticed I was getting eyed by a lot of people and some would say stuff about me like whispering. I was like, omg, maybe its a bit too much for the people that love the natural or no makeup out here. Turns out that in that particular area, the women who sold themselves rock hot pouts. lol. so i guess ppl were judging me about the lip color and assuming I was a street walker. lol
Just wear age appropriate makeup and never loose creativity. 80)
