If you live near a Sephora or a department store, go there, talk to the associates (if they're good, they'll ask you what your skin type is, if you have any specific needs (e.g., need to cover acne scars or whatnot), what kind of coverage you want (sheer, medium, full), and the finish (matte, luminous/dewy, satin/semi-matte, natural), and get some samples. This, a bit like skin care, is a very personal thing, and you may need to try multiple ones before learning which one is best for you.

I see on your profile that you have Combination skin. I would aim for something water based and you also have to consider which type of makeup you want to use. Powder or liquid? Cream? Looking at your skin in the picture, I think it's beautiful and it doesn't look like you need much. I would recommend purchasing a mineral foundation with a kabuki brush, that way you can build your coverage and you won't feel like you have a 'mask' on. :) But yes I completely agree with Shelly's comment! Go to a department store and explore the many formulas and brands out there. Don't be afraid to ask for samples and have them color match you. Check it out in natural lighting though before buying anything.
