Do any of you lovely beauties have any tips on how to take pictures of makeup once its applied? I try all the time but fail miserably. I see that a lot of you take really good pictures of your eye work. Any tips on scene settings, angles, zoom or anything will help!!!

Make sure you have good lighting. I use natural lighting when I can, it works the best :) Also turn your flash off if your camera is pretty close otherwise your photo will suck. If the photo turns out too yellow, simply colour-correct it. This option is available on most cameras, a basic photo editing feature on computers, or if you have neither, just use picnik. :)

Don't forget your ISO settings play a major role as well...

I don't take many 'finished makeup look photos' myself, but I have worked with a lot of different forms of close up, detailed photography - & the best thing you can do is the simplest of them all. Find even lighting. Natural lighting is the best to go but try not take any under direct sunlight, that can be very unflattering.
I find that outdoor, daytime photos have the best results with point & shoot cameras since you don't have much control on what settings you use.
Remember that your face is multi-dimentional, so at a certain angle, your brow-bone or the bridge of your nose can cause a shadow. So finding that perfect angle where everything is properly exposed will create the best photo. :)

There's so much more to macro/close up photohraphy & I could go on & on about it - but if you need any more help, leave a comment on my page & I'll definitely get back to you! :D

I was wondering the same thing since every pic I take up close has sucked big time and it was a bummer because I wanted to share with y'all here to get feedback. Back to the drawing board.lol

Lighting is HUGE, for sure I agree with everyone. If you don't have that you're up the creek.

I kinda cheat with my close ups sometimes, I take them from farther away and I zoom in on the computer/camera afterwards. It lets you get a clearer image if you don't have a really up to date camera.
