hey all!
i have oily skin and during the day when i have all my makeup on it tends to get very oily and i use a MAC blot powder but still doesnt do the trick also when im at home with no makeup on it gets very oily as well... any suggestions?!

I like Urban Decay DeSlick spray and blotting sheets usually work better for me than powder. I also find when my skin is oilier I need to use a more matte finish foundation to last throughout the day.

Do you have a skincare routine? If you don't, you should see about investing in a routine (cleanse and tone) to reduce oil production. Once you have a routine down, before applying your foundation, try MAC's Oil Control Lotion! As for shadow primers, try Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance. Or, NARS has a very good primer as well. Hope this helps. :)

Macs oil control lotion is amazing! I have been using it 2 days and already see great results and people are noticing. Now to find a drug store one that works cause 32$ is a bit much.

I agree with Denise F. Cleansing for your skin type is very important. A gel like cleanser will strong enough to cut any grease on the face. Toning is to help bring your skin back to balance after cleansing, but moisturizing is the most important of all. When you properly moisturize on a regular bases, it hydrates your skin. See when you have oily skin, you're not producing enough water to balance the oil. So when your skin is lacking hydration, it tells your brain to produce more oil to help compensate. Moisturizing will actually help cut that from happening. Also be careful of the products you use to "control" the oil. A lot of these brands can do more damage because of the ingredients. Either they are too thick or even the consistency of the product can be too much for your skin to breathe which can make a "collecting" effect with you makeup.

I have very oily skin and I found that if I make sure I cleanse my face properly in morning and in the evening (I use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser) it helps my skin. Also applying a base under my foundation. Try Vichy Dermablend powder it's white and all you need to do is press it into your skin with the little puff and it does a really good job and Vichy is meant to help your complextion as well.

That's my little tips :) x

I agree with Deinse F. You need a routine. I , myself have just gotten into one. I've stopped mixing and matching products and stuck to one brand . Start getting into the habit of washing with a cleanser, toner and a good moistuizer.

Also try not to use make up that has oil in them. And when choosing a cleanser and toner look for products that's non-comedogenic

I am huge on skin care. Great makeup begins with great skin care. I, too, have combo/oily skin. I wash my face with Boscia purifying cleansing gel along with my Clarisonic. I follow with Dr Brandt Pores No More Poresolution toner. Depending on the season of the year I use Embryolisse Oil Free mattifying cream. During the summer Murad Oil Control & Mattifying Moisturizer. You can prime with Cover FX anti-shine acne primer and opt for a mattifying foundation. I would recommend NARS sheer matte. Then blott and set with Amazing Cosmetics setting pressed powder. Blot with Boscia linens throughout the day as needed.
