Here's my story; I made the mistake a while ago of dying my hair black. I realized it wasn't for me- at all, and was desperate to get it out. I went threw 3 boxes of color remover, I dont remember the brand, and all the black was out and I was left with orange hair. I dyed my hair brown, brown's my natural color.
Here's my problem; It fades soo fast!!
I love to take hot showers, I dont know if thats maybe why its fading? I shower once every 2 days. I've gone threw soo many bottles of brown dye in the last months it isn't funny. I've tried every kind! from the cheap 3$ stuff, to the 20$ stuff, nothing will keep the brown in for long!!
Do you guys have any tips to keep the brown in? advice? i appreciate it alot. Thanks in advance!!

I haven't done this personally, but I believe if you mix the remaining parts of your hair color into your shampoo you can use it while you shampoo to "refresh" your color. I've heard several times that it helps people with red hair from having their color fade as much too soon. You just leave it in for a couple minutes and then rinse out like usual and continue your shower.

I actually went through the same thing. I dyed my hair black, then lightened it to my natural color.

Anyway, I have always noticed the more you dye your hair the more damaging it can be if not treated correctly. Kinda like adding lots of makeup over makeup-- so I wouldn't advice dying it all over the hair if you just need the roots done.

About the fading:
Warm water is something that affects color-- its best to wash in cold water or luke warm, and not every day.

Also get a shampoo that helps hair color-- they sell some at Sallys (like Ion) or a shampoo that is for brunette hair (Loreal Sells one at drugstores)

A deep conditioner helps once a week as well, just to maintain healthy hair. You can also buy this at Sallys.

Those are a few things. I hope it helps :)

A agree with Sarah! Hot water will fade you out. You can mix your color (without developer) with shampoo to your hair. Leave the mixture on for ten minutes then rinse. I would suggest using something semipermanent on your new growth, and not to color your ends. Maybe using a semipermanent until you're comfortable with wearing it natural again. Best of luck!

Tabitha, have you tried a tinted shampoo? I use Tressa Watercolors in Fluid Fire to keep my red from fading. They have a range of colors to include some browns. This could help keep your brown hair from fading. (I'm a hot shower girl too). I've been using the Fluid Fire shampoo for almost a year and each time I retouch my color, I only have to color the new growth. I buy mine from Amazon, just read the description of each color until you find one that best matches the tone of your brown hair.

Good luck.
