I am 21 and the other day I was at a blood drive and the lady doing the check asked me if I was old enough. I have just kind of accepted the fact that I look younger than I am, to be honest i really do not worry about it unless I am going on an interview or something where I need to look more mature. When I get older it will be a blessing I am sure. This got me thinking, what kind of makeup does a 21 year old wear. how does a person go about looking more like they are 21 (or any age for that matter)?

Hmmmm that's a tough one, I sometimes wonder that too. Because I'm 25, but because of my size & facial features I often get mistaken to be much younger. I don't like to pound on the makeup in the assumption that "grown ups" do it that way but I just try to do what I like. I still incorporate bright colors in my makeup looks but I try to make it more mature with the way I style my hair & outfit choices. You have to balance it out. Say if your wearing hot pink lipstick, you don't want to overdo it with your clothes & hair. I think its all dependent on your own personal style. Because I really think it'll become evident that your not 16 when you open your mouth. I believe your look should reflect exactly how YOU are & feel rather than what the status quo 20 something y/o would look like. I know that probably wasn't what you were looking for, but those are just my thoughts on it. Just take it with a grain of salt when your mistaken for being younger, it could be worse. You could be like my bestfriend who got mistaken for a student when she went to work her first day teaching at an ELEMENTARY school! LOL

I'm 31 and I still get mistaken for someone in her late teens/early twenties. I can't stand it. My mother had the same problem up to her early thirties; she also hated it. Even now some people think she's younger than she is (she's in her early-to-mid sixties now).

Just wear whatever makeup suits you and your personality (if it has to be work-appropriate, just tweak it so it is). I think that's true for, pretty much, any age.
