Iv been making videos for some time now and i have like over 100 videos that iv uploaded but there seems to be a particular person or people who just come across the whole of my videos and thumbs down them =/
Now doing that is not the problem...Its the fact that they dont leave a comment saying why and its really annoying me now!
If people would just say WHY they dislike my video then i can act on that and make the next one better!
Are these just mean and horrid people or do they actually not like my video...its so annoying haha!
Have you ever come across the same thing?

that's such a shame. it hasn't happened to me, but i have only uploaded 13 videos so far. there are some people who have no lives and just like to get on youtube and make people feel bad for no apparent reason, probably because they are lacking talent themselves and are jealous. if they don't leave a comment, then don't let it get to you. if you react to it, it's more likely to continue, and if you don't it's more likely to stop.:)

I think you're over analyzing it. If I search for something specifically & they talk to much, not get to the point or are just really slow I just wont like the video, I'll thumbs down & press X without even thinking twice. I don't think you should take it personal. It's not mean or horrid - just be glad you're not getting hate comments.

I think the thumbs up and down buttons are ridiculous. I think you should HAVE to leave a comment saying why. If you have the -for the lack of a better word- balls to thumbs down a video then have the balls to say why. If not, then just click out and be done with it. What gives us the right to judge other people. Criticism is one thing, but I think the thumbs down option is just mean... People click on it without even thinking. When we should be thinking about how the person is going to feel when they get thumb downs.
just my opinion...

Nykki your so right.
Iv never gone to another persons video and thumbs down. I think its just totally mean (My opinion)
If iv liked a video then iv always had the decency to go and say why. if you take the time to thumbs up or down a video then it wont take you 1 minute to say why.
If i had an opinion to give someone id always inbox them to save everyone else seeing. If they have said something wrong id go and inbox them aswell to save any kind of embarrassment.
Andrea i dont think im over analysing. Im just basically saying that people should take time to say why they didnt like it instead of just thumbs downing and going away. You have no idea how that feels when you have put so much into a video and people are disliking it here and there and you don't know why =/

i've gotten over the thumbs down thing..that's not a big deal to me, what I hate is people who leave you mean, snide comments that really aren't conducive to anything

I usually always get a magic number of 5 thumbs down on my videos, it makes me wonder if it's the same people. I think the majority of thumbs down in videos are from people who are bitter/jealous and they want to rain on your parade. A few are actually legitimate.
They should have a Jealous button rather then a thumbs down button. :D

Sarah-Louise,
I am like you, I have never thumbs downed a video. Ever. If I don't like it, I just move on. All tastes are different, and just because I don't love it doesn't mean someone else won't.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get it - A lot times, people will dislike a video for non-constructive reasons. & I find that negative non-constructive opinions are usually seen as rude by the maker of the video. Yet, makers are usually the ones to despise the rude or negative opinions on their videos. It seems like a never ending loop.
& I usually don't leave comments when I dislike a video because like I said, they will usually be non-constructive. & no, I'm not jealous, I'm not cruel person, I just wont like it. I don't think most people say anything because the "I don't have anything nice to say, so I wont say it at all" mentality is there. I'm not about to go on a video & say "Ughhh, I hate how much you talk, just get to the point" -or- "I really hate your makeup in this tutorial, I would never wear this" etc.
I'm just giving my general viewer-only opinion.

I personally don't even pay attention to the dislikes anymore. It's not worth my time. At first it really used to bother me, but when more people view your videos, you have a higher likelihood of them disliking them. I say, just do it for the love of it and enjoy what you do :)

I try to use thumbs ups and thumbs down to judge what people like and what they don't. Certain types of videos get tend to get thumbs down. People want informative videos that are to the point. But every thumbs down still hurts. At some point you just have to continue doing your thang and not let the haters get to you!

Here is my question...
Does a thumbs down affect how YT sees the video, as in where your video comes up in the list of searches? When you are new, it can be hard for people to know about you, so if it does then a thumbs down can really hurt. Plus, I do think it affects what people think of the video, some will be less likely to watch maybe? It wouldn't affect me, but who knows? I am just curious.

There are serial thumbs-down people on YT (not just in regards to makeup/beauty-related videos), I'm sure of it. In the end, it doesn't matter.

I don't do YT vids but I watch tons of them. I agree that accompanying a respectful comment when you thumbs down a video is preferred. I usually x out when I don't like something but I really dislike when others leave hate comments. If I were making videos I would probably get more upset about the hate comments than the thumbs down, but then again I don't make videos so u guys know better then me.

I know how you feel, when I had YT videos up I got a lot of nasty comments/dislikes and I found it was totally demoralising, so I ended up taking them all down and am fighting the urge to start them back up again ! Haha.

*Random - but OMG, I don't know if it's just me noticing, but isn't there a GIANT amount of Andrea's on the Beautylish forum? LOL, I swear, I see a different Andrea every day!

I get dislikes/thumb downs on my videos all the time. I wouldn't take it personal. Some people make Youtube accounts specifically to be a troll and go around disliking videos and leaving irrelevant and stupid comments.
I don't really understand why a comment is necessary explaining why they dislike your video. Most of the time those people just for the heck of it. Plus I would think the comment they leave telling you why they dislike your video would make you feel worse than receiving a dislike on a video.

Raisa,
I don't get that because your videos are amazing. I just found you on here, and your stuff is what I aspire to be! Just amazing. ;)
