I like hauls, hair tutorials, and lately I've been watching a lot of more wearable makeup tutorials. I love gurus who are funny and have great personalities. Also I hate really long videos, I like them when they are short n sweet. :)

This is such a helpful thread!

I like a good personality mixed with even better knowledge, I don't mind a longer tutorial...but not over 15 minutes. I don't like videos that are those 30 min ones!

Tutorials are my favorite, especially looks that are challenging. Something unique. Something that's a twist. Reviews are great, too.

I have a few videos longer then 30 minutes but thats only because i dont like splitting them into parts.

I tend to ramble on so much so that's why my videos get abit long. 99% of my video is just me rambling on about the product haha!

Iv got to learn to continue with th tutorial and not try to do a review at the same time HAHA!

@cookie - i need to check out your channel if only for the plus size fashion videos. I'm at that size where I can wear both misses, juniors plus, and women's plus *since a plus size has an equivalent misses size for some*; meaning, i can shop in any section of the store. I tend to favor the misses section but can't wear everything out there since it doesn't all look great on me (think those rompers that were in style this year). I think that plus size fashion is something that needs to be on youtube/blogs more often since most women are an average size 14. So, that's awesome, props to you!

As for youtube, i watch whatever i'm subscribed to. But, here's what I look for in people i subscribe to:
1.) good personality!
2.) non condescending
3.) not EVERY video is sponsored
4.) creativity
5.) good taste (fashion, decor, makeup style)
6.) variety of video types

I personally gravitate towards hauls the most and then reviews. I like tutorials but I"m picky about tutorials I watch. I feel a lot of gurus tend to do the same look, over and over. I need a variety as well as some difficult to do tutorials. I mean, I know how to apply my eye makeup in lots of different ways - I need to see something new to be interested in a tutorial.

I love gurus with personality and who can make me laugh! Also who are confident enough to include bloopers or something.

As for types of videos, my favorites are Hauls & Makeup Collections since I love seeing what other people are buying or already have! Tutorials are fun but I prefer to experiment/do my own thing with my makeup. :)

Length-wise, I don't mind either way. :)

I love looking for the newest products that are on the market. There are a lot of people out there that get products to sample out and reviews are posted ASAP. Reviews, hauls and makeup tutorials is the only vids I really watch on YouTube.

Nice topic! I love watching hauls, nail polish and makeup collections, reviews on the latest products, tutorials.. I love it all, but those spring to mind first =P

As for personality? I look for friendliness, a comfortable presence on the camera, and someone who asks all the questions.

For me, I really just like seeing makeup tutorials and favorites videos. I'd much rather read about hauls & reviews than see them on film, idk why lol.
The quality of the video has to be nice and the lighting has to be spot on as well. I hate watching videos that were filmed on a webcam in a dark room.
Personality-wise, they need to be genuine. They need to know their stuff and have confidence in what they are doing. They need to be creative. And know how to not be shy in front of the camera.
I also have no desire to watch a video longer than 15-20 minutes. I do not want to watch two full minutes of a person blending their eyeshadow lol.
... I never realized how picky I am when it comes to videos LOL!

You are that perfect size, the one where you can shop anywhere. I am that way in certain stores but not all. I wanted so badly to try a romper but I haven't found one in any of the stores around here. Sebring is always behind the times lol

I am picky about tutorials I like, too. I think it's just because I have watched so many...it has to be something new or unique to really grab my attention.
