I haven't jumped on the MAC bandwagon, yet. What attracts me the most is the lipsticks, but most have a million dupes so I see no point in spending that much money. I am, however, intrested in a foundation.

When I was pregnant I had an horrible experience at my local MAC store. When you're pregnant you often experience a slight two toned complexion. I needed to go in and get matched up to something just a tad bit darker since I had ran out of my current compact. Well, I explained to the rep my situation and instead of testing colors along my jaw line she just ran it on the top of my wrist. As we all know that is not the best way to get an accurate match. The next thing I know she tells me that she can't help me out and moved on. Leaving me too stunned and speechless. I left the store without purchasing a single thing. Her loss considering my hubby was with me and wanting to treat me to a make-up haul. I eventually used up my MAC products and I think I have two tubes of gloss and that's it. If I absolutely want something from MAC I try it out in the store and then order it online to avoid the poor customer service within the store.

P.S. I did leave the mall with $250 worth of makeup from Bobbi Brown. My hubby walked up to the girl with the goodies and told her it was her loss. Looked like a scene outta Pretty Woman.

I'm mostly over MAC. Agreed with the comment about the carbon eyeshadow - so many other better blacks. Carbon is really bad on me, so hard to get it to look good.
Pretty much the only things I like from MAC still but could live without are their blushes, pigments and MSFnatural.
Their eyeshadows are all less pigmented than they used to be. I hate all their foundations. I never get good service. Their nail polish is rubbish quality - chips off in a day!
People get sucked in though because they have good marketing. Their collections are always really cute. They have a large range of colours. But it doesn't mean they're the best qual brand. So annoying.
I wish people would try the other amazing brands out there.

Like any makeup line, MAC has great stuff, and not great stuff. There are so many great lines out there, it's hard to say that MAC is the King of the Hill. Plus, the foundations are really bad for your skin...
and their product have so many nasty chemicals, artificial colors, etc. yuch!!!
But as a makeup artist, I do use a few of their things.

i see mac as a gateway brand for a lot of people who like makeup and want to get into more expensive brands. i like their lipsticks and have tried their fake lashes as well as their eyeshadows. they're decent but they've never been my favorite.

I love MAC, but I'm not obsessed with them. While I like their eyeshadows, I could live without them. The main things I go to them for are lipstick and paint pots. If I see a collection has paint pots, I generally go running...
I don't think I'll ever be really over them just for that reason. XD

100% agree with what Christopher D said. I too have some of their products in my kit as a makeup artist.

I actually don't own any MAC - just recently got into makeup (Philosophy got me into it, branching out to Benefit, Urban Decay, etc). I'd like to own some MAC things (their neutral eyeshadows look nice) but I don't get the appeal of the whole brand. I know some people go crazy there and buy everything, even if they know it's not the best, and I don't really understand that.

COMPLETELY OVER IT! I'm a reformed MAC ADDICT! I couldn't get enough MAC products until I found out what was IN them! When I made the switch to organic and natural, my skin thanked me! I tried and tried to find safer alternatives that could actually compare to MAC's color payoff and brightness of colors without success....so, I made my own! www.EVOKEElegance.com

@Christopher: What is your evidence for this? To me, your statement reeks of scaremongering.
