I would like to know of reliable companies that sell affordable brushes or brush sets. I know of elf, crown brushes, BH cosmetics, sigma and coastal scent. But does anyone else know of other websites.

Drugstores have Ecotools. I really like it. It doesn't shed, it's good quality, it's cheap -- and most of all, it's very accessible. =)

@Laiza: Coastal Scents' brushes are Crown Brushes, just rebranded.

I would recommend the Studio brushes ($3) over the Professional ones ($1), if you go that route.

I agree with everything said above. Definitely check out Ecotools, ELF, Essence of beauty, and Real Techmiques.

I have a mix of crown brushes (mostly the Italian Badger Series) and ELF Studio brushes so that I have a nice mix of natural and synthetic bristles. The one thing that I wanted to mention concerns cleaning your brushes, because I was doing it incorrectly for a while and it made bristles fall out. Do NOT soak your brushes. Water gets up into the faroule (sp? the metal bit that connects the handle and the bristles) and starts to degrade the glue that holds everything in place. Good luck with your brush shopping.

Bdellium Tools, Sonia Kashuk, & Paris Presents (found only at Walmart). Paris Presents are the same makers off EcoTools and Real Techniques brushes.

Essence of The Beauty and Sally's Face Secret's line

Real Techniques brushes are really great, they're sold at Ulta :) My favorite is the stippling brush, it's amazing! I also swear by the elf STUDIO line brushes, the professional line brushes are crap but the studio brushes are great quality for only being $3 :) Eco Tools and Sonia kashuk are good too...Sonia Kashuk brushes are definitely more expensive than the average drugstore brush but they are outstanding quality :)

ELF Studio line offers high quality and affordable brushes. The brushes are sturdy and the bristles are so soft. I love them and highly recommend you try the 11 piece brush set.
