I love the books by Kevin Aucoin. I have Making Faces and Face Forward. I also hear good things about books by Francois Nars, but I don't own them.

I have 2 on my wishlist. 1 is Jemma Kidd Make-up Masterclass: Beauty Bible of Professional Techniques and Wearable Looks and 2 is Vogue Makeup by Juliet Cohen. I only have one already but I don't recall the name of it and it's not easily accessible at this time.

I have the Bobbi Brown, Kevin Aucoin, and Laura Mercier books. But I think my current all time fav. is Rae Morris! I purchased these books from Amazon.

Happy reading!

ohh all of the books above sound great. Our all time favorite is Kevin Aucoin, and we love the new Jemma Kidd book. Jemma not only talks about foundation colors correctly, she makes you understand them in a more detailed way :)

Seconding (thirding?) the Kevin Aucoin suggestion. I would say Making Faces was responsibly for a lot of my early interest in makeup artistry and application.

I also like the NARS book for inspiration, but they don't talk as much about what shades to wear for certain skin tones, application for different face shapes, etc--it uses only NARS products (d'uh), and is more of a look-book with details on how to apply. Good thing about it is that it's done as photos with acetate overlay to show where you apply certain colours.

anyone hear about the eve pearl book[s]? been really curious of her products..

My father-in-law always gives me a gift card to Barnes and Noble every Christmas. (Hope the tradition continues this year!) I just started my makeup book collection last year. These are the ones I have so far:
1. Eye Candy by Linda Mason
2. Lauren Luke Looks by Lauren Luke
3. Bobbi Brown Beauty by Bobbi Brown & Annemarie Iverson
I would love the Kevin Aucoin and NARS collections. I've heard so many good things about them.

I love Kevin Aucoin! And I would love to get my hands on some MAC face charts!

about face by scott barnes and makeup: the ultimate guide by rae morris

I have quite a few and my favorite Beauty Books are by Kevin Aucoin! I also loved the Allure confessions of a beauty editor & Vouge makeup. But Beauty the new basics by rona berg was AMAZING and so many tips but it is a heavy read. Eye candy was a horrible book in my opinion, it was like the once i listed and was fun of looks you would find youtubers doing or worse. but for beginners it has the basics!
