Are there ANY good drugstore conditioners?!

Is it just me, or is it completely impossible to find a Drugstore conditioner that doesnt leave a waxy film on the hair?

If Im missing an amazing, affordable conditioner- LET ME KNOW! Id love to try it...until then...I guess Im stuck spending $20 on the professional stuff *sigh*

I use Suave.

The "waxy" stuff is because you're not rinsing it out of your hair properly. The "professional" stuff is not any better really. Read the ingredients and the vast majority contain the same things as the "drugstore" brands.

Yasmin you're so right. In fact the major problem with MOST people's hair is not only what they are using, but how often they are using it. My stylist tells me the biggest reason a lot of her clients have hair issues is because they use WAY too much conditioner, and they wash way too often.

They hair needs time to build up its own natural oils and washing/conditioning with anything that lathers is a huge no-no. It's just as bad as using dish washing soap on your hair.

As for drugstore vs. namebrand, Yasmin is right again. But I agree with Amanda on Organix, it is orangic and excellent for your hair.

I switched to Wen hair care products about 6 months ago and it's been a tremendous help, but it's pricey so I alternate it with Organix in teatree mint and coconut.

I swear by Infusium conditioner. Weirdly I've NEVER heard anything about it on the internet, but my grandma recommended it to me, and I absolutely LOOOOVE it. It's the best drugstore conditioner I've used and it's about $8 for a huge 32 oz. bottle, and I swear it's like salon quality...It smells amazing, leaves my hair sooo silky, soft and manageable, I've been using it for quite a few months and I haven't noticed any waxy film left on my hair. I also really love the Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner, it's basically AMAZING and makes my hair unbelievably soft :)

I second what Yasmin and Erin said, waxy film is usually due to overuse. I have really long hair but I never use more than a dollop of conditioner and never have that waxy feel.

I was taught a long time ago that the correct way to wash your hair is to lather the shampoo to your scalp only where the oil produces, that way you don't dry out the rest of your hair but it still gets clean as it runs through when you rinse. And then with the conditioner, you apply to the ends of your hair and make sure to rinse well.

I've been doing it this way since 8th grade and I always get compliments on my long, healthy hair :)

Lots... I love Suave's "professional" line (less than $2.50 a bottle). Love Aussie's conditioners. There are a few "ethnic" lines out there as well that make great leave-in conditioners and "cholesterols" (Queen Helene for example). The trick with conditioners is not to leave it in too long and rinse it out properly.

i use aussies 3 minute miracle, i know it's a deep conditioner but i have dry curly/wavy hair so i use it every time i wash my hair[which is every other day].
for my shampoo i use loreal's eversrong sulfate free shampoo which has helped my hair alot. you need to have a good shampoo as well as a good conditioner . :)

i like tresemme's light moisture conditioner, very hard to overuse, light but super conditioning and suitable for all hair types. also comes in a huge bottle with a pump for easier use =]

I'm addicted to Organix's conditioners.. they have a lot natural ingredients rather than artificial silicones, and they're mostly sulfate and paraben free. I'm fondest of the the coconut milk, awapuhi ginger, and macadamia oil (the macadamia oil hair mask is awesome!). They usually run from $6-9, depending on where you get them :)
