There are a few good schools, but you have to make sure that the teachers are SUCCESSFUL IN THE INDUSTRY. You can get some really talented teachers, but really check out their portfolio. If they do print work, they should have a lot of tear sheets, if they do film/tv then they should be credited on many large projects. A lot of times you will see teachers who never achieved commercial success, and why would you want to learn from someone who isn't successful in their field? It's easy to pad your resume, but make sure they have proof of their work. Other than that MUD and Cinema Makeup School are good for Los Angeles. Mud is also in NYC. Savini is a good school but very expensive. Do you know what kind of makeup you want to do?

i wanna do basic professional makeup , and later on my own i plan on learning dramatic makeup ... but im just looking for a good cosmotology school in miami , and im just too stuck and dont know which one i like :/

Cosmetology school is different than makeup school. Cosmetology school is more about hair styling, cutting, and dying than makeup. It's good if you want a license so you can work in a salon. You could also go to a school for the esthetics program which is focused more on skin care and makeup. I don't know much about schools in Miami, but if that is the program you are looking for then all that matters is getting the license to work in a salon. You won't have to worry about seeing if your teachers are successful because all they need to do is work in a salon to be successful in that field. Is that what you want to do?

Amanda! I am looking as well , in the same city ;) ! However, cosmetology school is different from makeup like Jamie said.
