So I am in search of a shampoo COMPLETELY free of sulfates. I think my scalp has become sensitive to sulfates because I am experiencing more hair loss during and immediately after washing since I switched from my Burts Bees shampoo. I felt like the Burts Bees made my hair dry and crunchy looking. Currently Im using Yes To Carrots (which I LOVE) but there is a sulfate in this shampoo. Im interested in Shea Moisture moisture retention shampoo, Im just not sure it will be right for my hair type (I have fine hair mid-way down my back and am in the process of growing out a perm) Has anyone used this or you guys have any suggestions? Im planning to keep using my Yes To Carrots conditioner :)

Yes To Carrots also have the coco sulfate, which is making me lose more hair than usual

Have you ever tried any of the L'Oreal EverPure line? It has really helped out my scalp, which used to be very itchy, dry, and flakey (did a full review here if you'd like to read: http://beauty.adorability.org/?p=2246). I'm not sure if it was specifically the L'Oreal Everpure, or if any sulfate-free would have done the same...but I'd definitely recommend the brand!

I'm not sure if the JASON shampoos are sulfate-free, but I have a hard time tolerating a lot of hair products, but JASON always seems to work best for me. You can find it in most health food sections/health food stores if you want to check it out :)

Hey, Beauties!! I think I may be sensitive to sulfates too. I can't use any soap on my body that has sulfates and parabens in it because it makes it look red and dry and with little bumps all over it. But my scalp lately is been very flakey and itchy and I loose a lot of hair, of course I have so much hair that is not noticeable, but trust me I see it on the floor all the time LOL Anyways, I have been thinking about getting sulfate free shampoo too... so thank you Erica for posting this.
Melanie G. I will def check your blog after posting here to read the review on the L' Oreal Ever Pure Line... sounds amazing!!! Where can I buy it???

@Bella I got the shmapoo and conditioner on drugstore.com, but it should be available in any drugstore like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid etc...its pretty inexpensive as well compared to some other brands!

I didn't like the L'Oreal line of sulfate free shampoos and conditioners... It left my hair dry and more prone to breakage. I was about to switch to Yes to Carrots until you ladies just said it contained some sulfates still... Any other suggestions?

Have you looked into California Baby? I know it's technically a kids' line, but I have super sensitive skin and I'm insanely picky about some ingredients and I find that it can be great if you don't have hair that's super finicky. Mine is very thick and textured ... and just all around nutty ... so I find I have to change shampoos constantly to get good results.

DJ - yeah, my hair usually responds positively to any switch in routine, but winters have been kicking my butt in my later 20's... Last year, my skin went dry - this year, it's my hair! I'll def. check out the California Baby line. Thanks!

@Soma Sure thing! My hair is a pain, if I use anything for more than a month my hair becomes SUPER awful. It's always been high-maintenance :/ Spoiled hair!

I am currently using a sulfate free shampoo which is the L'Oreal everpure line. I have to say that I dislike it. The shampoo actually made me loose more hair and it made it dry and dull. And I know this because once I used dove shampoo and my hair felt much better! But, as you stated that you have sensitive scalp a sulfate free that I liked was one from the Organix line. The smell is incredible and it stays moisturized! :)

I was actually going to suggest Shea Moisture. This is a great product to retain moisture yet clean your hair. I think it will work perfect. I use the Curl & Shine Shampoo. This can work on your hair as well. It just leaves moisture and shine.

My favorite that am trying out know is the New Loral EverCreme Intense Nourishing creme shampoo. the package is gold on the top then it fades in a white color like a Ombre effect. It leaves my hair so soft. There no sulfates in it but it does lather up which I like cause to me it shows that my hair is getting clean but yet it doesn't strip the natural oils from your hair. i got mine from Rite Aid but check out drugstores.
