voice-overs, talking while applying make up, or captioning at the bottom?
Those seem to be the most popular three and if I had to choose... Well I wouldn't be able to! I love them all.
Can I get your guys' opinion?

It depends on who is talking, and on my mood that day....sometimes I like to hear the people talk because it makes the video more personal but sometimes I just want them to get to the point so voice over is good too.
It's all a matter of the maker of the videos personal preference. Do what makes you happy, video making should be fun :)

Majority of the time I prefer talking while applying makeup. Im not really sure why but its just a personal preference. Sometimes voice-overs seem a little too rushed so I don't really enjoy watching it at times.

@Binks Exactly, thats definitely how I feel too! Talking is cool because they start sharing their opinion and everything but I find rarely I really wanna hear their opinion.. I just want them to apply! Lol.

Talking while applying makeup. A certain makeup guru comes to mind when I think of voice-overs, and it really annoys me for some reason. I like seeing their personality shine through, and enjoy when they go off topic sometimes. But not like, for 5 minutes or anything haha. A lot of people hate Lorraine Stannick, but I used to love when she used to do tutorials, because she has a great sense of humor, and could really keep my interest in the products she was using.

it depends who is talking, and the video's content(sometimes you are not in the mood to keep up with the guru, or just want to go straight ot the point)
I luv captioning in some gurus like MakeUpByNaya,or if they are in fast forward motion(cuz I don't see what they're doin sometimes)
but most of the time I luv hearing their voices <3

I prefer talking-while-applying... you know it's more of a "I'm doing this because I want too and not being paid to do a QVC advertisement" sort of thing. It just seems more REAL to me.. or atleast the people I've come across that do the voice-over bit seems highly scripted..almost like a joke.

I personally think voice over's seem a bit fake, totally agreeing with @Allison and @Cameron here, people like xsparkage go off topic sometimes, but it feels more real and personal, it's like talking to a friend about makeup rather than seeing the QVC ad, like Allsion said, lol :P

I personally enjoy when people talk while applying make-up, voice-overs are kindof boring to me. I like hearing people getting distracted or rambling every once in a while!

As a hard of hearing person with an accent that apparently annoys all of YouTube, I never win, ha. If I do voiceovers, everyone's all whoop dee do, but if I talk while applying, everyone get theirs undies in a bunch.
It's easier for me to understand what someone is saying if they're talking while applying since I can look at their mouth, but in the end, I really don't care because I need my eyes to see what they're doing and not my ears.
And I've yet to see anyone that is completely hearing happily approve of captions, haha. Every single person I've come across will go "oh god, I don't want to read anything".

All of you have made some excellent points and I loved all of your feedback. Still, in my opinion, I think I'm undecided. I love when they talk while applying but sometimes voiceovers are nice.

I prefer talking while applying makeup. One thing I find really distracting is when people do tutorials but they don't explain anything and they show themselves putting on makeup while music is playing.
