Use pure vaseline on your hands everynight before you sleep with hand gloves(bath and body works) and use the petroleum vaseline in the tube to moisturize your hands throughout the day! It works trust me! I hope this helps love! Your hands may feel a litlle greasy but once you wake they are so soft and moisturized. Works better than any cream or formula you can get from a brand.

@Ainslie & @Chavalie: thank you for the advices(: you both mentioned using gloves before i go to sleep. i've tried that & it does work but then when the day at the restaurant starts again, with all the packing, writing & washing .... my hands are done again in less than an hour. dont get me wrong, i love the feeling of waking up to soft hands but it doesnt last me long. have you guys tried other methods that does last? maybe i should take a pic of how my finger looks lol. it scares me lots!

Invest in a pair of gloves or mittens, some rubber gloves (unpowdered), some large ziplock bags and a pair of socks. Cover your hands and feet with the balm and then put the rubber gloves over your hands and the ziplock bags over your feet. The mittens/socks will keep them in place. The plastic traps the product in (the cotton or wool of the gloves would leach it out). Now go to sleep! The product really has time to sink in when you leave it on overnight.
If you do this on a regular basis it really helps. I also soak in a bath with oil (baby oil even works) and about three cups of sea salts. The salt has antibacterial qualities so it's good for cracked skin.. and don't worry, it doesn't sting. Try not to wash your hands more than absolutely necessary during the cold months and moisturize as often as possible. I also found that exfoliation helps my skin heal even faster. My hands and feet have just started to get super dry so I'll be doing this process myself starting tonight! Hope this helps!

my dad uses this lotion/ointment called udderly smooth, you can find it in your grocery store or drugstore and he loves it. he has really rough hands due to his job and if it can handle a mans hands, i'm sure it'll fix up a womans (:

I have the same problem with my hands cracking, and bleeding, usually happens when its cold here. I use Aquaphor, its kinda expensive (to me atleast lol) but it really works. My son's pediatrician brought me to this stuff for his diaper rashes that wouldnt go away and its the only ointment that works for him as well.

Thank you for all your replies :) ive read your advices and was trying the method of vaseline and cotton gloves but instead of the gloves i was using these finger cots? cause the time in the restaurant is the time where my hands look like a 80 year old grandmas. the cut on my finger looks a lot better now after one day of using the finger cot but i cant fix the cracking and peeling skin on my thumb. will try other methods when i have a chance to go buy them. again, thanks(:

Neutrogena's Swedish Formula Hand Cream, Bag Balm, and Cetphil Moisturizing cream are all good bets! If they are really, really cracked, Your better bet is going to be Bag Balm!

If you skin is literally breaking apart I would recommend a few things.
1. Skip hot showers when possible and if you take a bath to add some type of oil in it the water.
2. Apply baby oil to your skin immediately after a shower, dry off first, and allow your skin to absorb the oil before you put your clothes on.
3. Hands and feet - apply vaseline (as previously mentioned) or Udder Cream (pet store and some stores will have it in the pharmacy area) and wrap your hands and feet in plastic wrap for at least an hour. Put socks on over your feet so the plastic wrap doesn't slid off.
4, Increase the amount of water you drink.
5. If you house is dry or you have a fireplace get a humidifier to add moisture back into the air.
If none of this help then seek professional help from a doctor as they might be able to prescribe some type of lotion or cream that will help.

@yasmin: ill be freezing without hot water. i'm fat and chinese people always say fat people aint afraid of the cold(which is totally BS) but i am extremely afraid of the cold. i have a thin layer of skin where you can see like almost all my veins. i LOVE the baby oil after my shower but the things is that even after i dry myself, my skin is still a bit oily and thats not good cause when i pay with my son, he loves kissing me and licking my chest and making that farting sound on my chest haha. i dont want the oil in his mouth.
