I remember when I first received my VIB card, I was so excited. They were giving away Kat VonD pallets, Benefit sets, and all sorts of fun and useful goodies. Once I finally saved up 500 points though, it seems that the sets have declined in user-value, and the only decent one was the Ole Henrikson set and they've all focused on skin care as of late.
Anyone know or have heard of any new sets coming in the near future? Have any favorites they should bring back? Or even better, what VIB set would you dream up?

A couple of months ago Sephora were doing a two palette I can't think of the name of it. I usually just keep letting my points add up until I see something I really want. I know I have gotten some great things waiting.

Yeah, my points have accumulated, and I just want to use them up already on a decent set. The Ole Henrikson one was the last that I liked, but their makeup sets are so lacking! It's at most 3 pcs. of something small and there's always a useless mascara in there somewhere I wouldn't bother using.
At least their birthday gift got better with the Philosophy birthday cake soap, since last year's Sephora eyeshadow and eyeliner gift were nearly unusable to me. So chalky and the pencil dragged like crazy!

Ditto for me! I have well over 500 points and all they have are crappy samples. I'm sorry Sephora but 500 points = $500 and I want something GOOD for having spent $500 at your store!

I received a smashbox set that had a full size eyeshadow trio, full size eyeliner, and sample size eye primer and mascara. Unfortunately I did wait a while till they offered something i liked.

I got the VIB card when the Kat Von D pallets were being given away. Now I see these things that are just NOT worth the points. I think Sephora is lacking... it's kind of insulting!

Hi guys... I work for Sephora and not exactly to speak for the whole company, but I think it might be because when good gifts come around, they go QUICKLY. Recently we had a Too Faced Palette with the Shadow Insurance, a Smashbox one for eyes, etc. Basically, they replace the 500 point perks with something else when those run out. Unfortunately, when there ARE less-demanded perks (Skincare, for example, or things our clients wouldn't necessarily use), it takes a longer time to go through. I'm not exactly sure how the gifts are chosen, but I'll ask tomorrow. If you have a recent receipt from Sephora, go on the second receipt w/ the Survey link and let your voice be heard! Sephora is all about the client and everyone reads the responses. If there's a higher demand, Sephora will listen! In the meantime, hopefully something more fun and exciting comes out soon. Hope this kind of helps...

I used to shop Sephora a lot before baby number 2 came along and I hit 500 points a few times. I remember getting a Sephora book -- not really know what to call it. It included a few shadows and blush and maybe lip gloss. A week or so after the Kat Von D gift came out and I was like I should've waited.
Got 500 points again but the prize was totally something else. I remember using the points to get a Philosopy gift. It included about 4 small body wash/shampoo (I believe) and a full size lipgloss. This was around Christmas.
Anyway, what I thought was odd was I know I gained more points, but for some reason it didn't get calculated. I thought they started to cap points. That's not the case is it???

Oh and what sickens me is knowing that I could buy all these items, full size even for far less than spending about $500 to just get 500 points. =\

I heard the cap rumor on the points as well, or an expiration date on them, but I've yet to see it happen. I've held onto these points for close to 3 years now... and it's still buildable. I'm guessing it was just a tactical scare for them to get people back into the store to redeem them and spend a little more during the down economy. =P

I've never heard anything in advance, just occasionally in the VIB e-mails.
So far I've been happy with what I've traded in my points for, but I will usually just wait for something to grab my attention.
I'm just glad they have the points program in the first place, not many cosmetics retailers will give you gifts like that for free.

Did you guys receive the new VIB/Make Up For Ever gift w/ purchase? Man, I got suckered! Such a great deal w/ any minimum $35 purchase!
I posted the code on my blog: www.kabukivoodoo.com

@Soma, I did! Sephora doesn't have anything that I really want right now, well I should say need. I would not use the HD powder or the eyeliner but who knows. lol
