Mystic tanning is something I have always wanted to try. Being that I am very pale and a red head can you ladies please give me the low down to help me make sure I come out sun kissed and not a Snooki imposter?!

I personally feel Mystic Tan will turn you orange no matter what. It's a cheaper brand of spray tanning therefore the product is not as good. The levels are pretty much orange, more orange, and Oompa Loompa. I would suggest finding a salon that has VersaSpa spray tanning or check out a salon that has airbrush tanning (where a tech actually sprays you with an airbrush gun). Some work out centers have people like this as well. VeraSpa offers more brown tones in their sprays and results in a less orange look, plus their systems promotes less streaking than the cheaper Mystic Tan. If you do not want to pay the extra cost for a spray tan (VersaSpa can run about $30 a tan, some salons have deals though) then try Jergens Natural Glow lotion (start out with Fair to Medium Skin Tones). I use the Medium to Tan Skin Tones, but that is because I use a tanning bed as well. Jergens is by far the best sunless tanner I have ever used. Good luck!

"The levels are pretty much orange, more orange, and Oompa Loompa." LMAO!
I do agree with going to a salon that has airbrushing tanning. I know at my local mall there is a store that does only airbrush tanning but some of the local tanning salons also do airbrushing alternatives. So check around town.

hi, you just want to go for a buildable fake tan and dont get it done in salons. i would reccommend fake bake mousse tan. Just apply with a mit and you cant go wrong, its not streaky and dries instantly. you just apply before you go out and you dont need to wash it off or anything!! and the best thing?! it doesnt smell like tan at all !! :) check my channel for more tricks and tips: http://www.youtube.com/user/xxelvisxx100

So as far as value how long does the airbrush tan last compared to the other options available? The reason I am doing this is because I have a destination wedding in Florida in November I do not want to be my pale self in photos! So with that info am I better off building a tan?

Airbrush tanning does last a while. It won't last a month or longer but it would last a couple of weeks before it starts to fade. It depends on how dark you get the tan. Put it this way, when our friend Kris (former Miss Texas) competed at Miss America last year (2010) she had her tan done two or three weeks before the pageant. She was at the Miss America pageant for two weeks if I recall correctly and that tan was still dark on her during the final competition night which aired on ABC. So an airbrush tan can last a long time.

I agree with Yasmin! Side Note: If you shave your legs a lot (which I do) the spray tan will fade faster in that area. If it's not until November, you should wait until late October and start using a lotion like the Jergens one I mentioned and get a spray tan a week before you go. I say a week just in case you are not happy with the color or it's too dark, that way it gives your skin a week to even out! Also, if you shower with a loofah, it will fade the tan (lotion or spray) faster too. So after you spray tan, stay away from the loofah until after the wedding!

Thank you all so much! Great advise! I think I will start with the lotion now and see if I like it!
