I started one on June 17th. I failed :( HAHA 2 days ago to be exact. I just HAD to buy Gem of Roses Lipstick by MAC from their semi-precious collections because I didn't want it to sell out before I was able to get it! How did your no buy work for you?

I went from Dec 17 till the beginning of June. Not bad! Expect I've bought over 50 things since then >_> I'm calming down after this though!

Yeah, I'm trying to just stop my impulses on buy things because they're pretty. It was my birthday in June I didn't want to blow all my birthday money on makeup so I can try to preserve my money for the next half year. I'm trying to keep this "no buy mentality" so I can control my impulses.

I'm on one now. I started May 21, 2011. I end November 21, 2011. So I promised myself 6 months. So far, so good. :)

Yes I do! At this point since I have a lot of makeup, i try to only buy things that I need like foundations and primers, but even at the moment I don't have a need for any foundation because I have several I need to use up. If I buy something like eyeshadows it's because they are on sale for a really good price is what I tell myself.

I really love playing with makeup, but I don't buy very much of it. I just play with what I've got which is mostly drugstore stuff. I don't have an Ulta or Sephora near me so I don't really have the temptation to go out and splurge on makeup. However, I do have a HUGE problem spending money on clothes. I don't ever think I could go on a shopping diet, but that's okay with me because I'm a huge bargain shopper so I try to get the most for my money without spending a ton. :) I don't know, I think if you have the money to spend then you should buy what you want because you only have one life to live so you might as well get that new lipstick if that's what makes you happy! :)

@Erica, when I first started wearing makeup I purchased a lot of stuff from Mac just because I had no ideal what i was doing and they were able to show me some tips but once I started really getting into makeup and go good I started testing out a lot of drugstore products and I actually love them more than a lot of the highend products. And then of course I love clothes as well. I try not to over by on all the stuff i love.

lol @ Keren!
I'm actually planning to do this for at least all of August. (July 31st is going to be a fun day... haha!). We'll see how it goes. I've just recently stocked up on skincare products and makeup products, so there shouldn't be anything that I need to purchase next month.

I'm putting myself on a no buy (it's been almost 2 weeks now) because I'm building my own computer and that has been draining my wallet. =(
and lol @Keren as well!

I've been on a no-buy since May when I splurged on my dream designer dress.. so it was more out of necessity than good will AHA. It's not that big of a deal to me though, I usually contemplate buying things for months before I actually do and never have any buyers remorse because of it. I'm breaking it for UD's 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette they're bringing out though. They showed it to me during a private preview and I am OBSESSED.

Haha I'll admit it...my no spending money started when my credit card maxed out! >.< Okay Okay I still buy little things here and there (mainly drugstore) but not with my credit card!! My wishlist for more expensive makeup is getting longer and longer gahh!

Never knew there was a term for it! I've done this quite a few times in my past. I'll say "no frivolous shopping." Longest I've ever gone was a month and a half. But I can honestly say I don't spend TOO much on makeup on a regular basis considering I'm a college student. Not much funding to begin with. lol. I know when I have to save and when I can splurge a bit. :)

Prior to baby number 2, I've done some major damage at Sephora. I was able to spend $200-300 each trip like nothing.
However, since baby number 2, I've had to get a bigger car, and the usual cost that comes with raising a child... so for the past 2 years, I'm sorta on a "NO BUY" phase. And I'm probably going to be on one for the next 2-3 years.
Thank goodness for Beautylish, I can find affordable make up at drugstores. (You could say before Beautylish I was sorta a makeup snob -- nothing but department stores, but since Beautylish, I found out pratically the best of the best drug store products out there.) =) Thanks Girlies... and a few men too. =)

I've done no buys before ( a month or two at a time) and am thinking of doing it again! Ugh! Over the weekend, I reorganized my makeup collection and realized that I have ridiculous amounts of makeup and need to stop buying for awhile. It's so hard though! Makeup shopping is such an addiction!

No buys are definitely a challenge. However, I'm quite proud I got myself to buy just one thing out this whole month. I'm going to keep this "no buy" mentality to limit myself in the future. But it's not too bad to splurge once in a while ;) especially when you've limited yourself to little to no products.

I put myself on a no makeup buying ban until i hit pan on 5 products that i have not already hit pan on. I was just going to see how long I could go without buying anything but I was like ...NAW that would be awful. So far so good.

Yeah I did and did it for 7 months and didn't buy anything because I felt there were more important things I needed to spend my money on.

I've tried, but it backfires BAD because it's like a crash/binge-diet kind of thing for me. I won't buy for a good month or two, then I'll splurge and drop a few hundred in a day just to make up for lost time... >.<
I've tried the phantom shopping online tactic: filling up imaginary shopping carts with things I want and building wishlists, but the Paypal and checkout options are so easy nowadays!!!
I'll be honest... I have a slight problem, but at least I'm not hurting anybody! =P
To the ladies that can last a year+: I have MAD respect for you.

I am on one now and it is KILLING ME. I am more on a "pan" project though. 10 products until I can buy one. *sigh*
