It depends on where you get it, I have one on my upper shoulder and it was nothing like I expected, as in way less pain. I got my frontal helix pierced and that hurt way more!

You neednt be scared I got my First tattoo on my nec, its a Little rose and it didnt hurt very much. If you gut your First tattoo, you want more and more. Its like a drug. I get my Second tattoo in october this year. I get a Little Key on my right foot.

Amy L. is right, and that is my defense for life--expect the worst and you'll probably always be pleasantly surprised ;) It works!! Tattoos hurt but its a good kind of hurt and sort of a release, Ha. Don't be scared though, its just pain :)

A little bit of extra pain on th blood vessels and the rest doesn't hurt as bad. but if yr artist is smart they start on th painful areas first.

I got my first tattoo on the side of calf. I just didn't like when he was filling in the color. But it wasn't bad, I got my second on my second on my wrist and I already want more. I don't find it painful cause I had a natural childbirth.

Take a friend to distract you from the pain! Making then talk to you and ask you questions takes your mind off it! And make sure you eat before hand.

Yeah expecting the worse is probably best. I have tattoo that covers my chest and that's what I did. Although when I got it I didn't feel much pain at all. Don't worry you'll be fine.

^^^..what they all say.. expect the worst and keep busy take some one so they can conversate with you. I was nervous with my first on wrist.. mmm 4 years later I got 12 tattoos lol.

It really doesn't hurt that badly. I have one on my stomach next to my belly button, one on my back and one on the top of my foot. The only thing I can think of that it feels like is a hot scratch. Don't have a drink to relax yourself beforehand like everyone says to. Just remember to breathe and eat before you go
